What do you mean by "offset crankshaft"?
just that it's rotated, 270 degrees instead of the normal 180 in the case of the BMW 850 GS:

OK, a 270 crank isn't a new thing in the Triumph range, the custom styled Speedmaster had it since launch in 2003.
Certainly, but a "T-plane triple" is a world first and my point was that manufactures are going in the direction of trying to engineer in "good vibrations and sound" in their engines these days. Making them more exciting by making them slightly less than perfect.
I have in fact traveled thousands of miles on my Harleys and did not come home wishing it had less vibes. This is not directed at you personally Greg, but those who think Harley’s vibrate unpleasantly running down the road don’t have experience with modern Harleys. My cross bones was a joy to travel on. I wish I’d never sold it. There is a reason (beyond image) that Harley sells so many touring bikes. They know what they are doing. There is a difference between buzz and vibes. Harleys don’t buzz.
If I were to buy a new motorcycle tomorrow and money was not a consideration I would buy a new Heritage Softail. A wonderful machine with surprisingly excellent suspension.
But I may be past those days. My BV350 vibrates more than the Xmax, but it is not unpleasant at all. The BV is also my first choice to ride between the two most of the time.
One really has to wonder how much longer KYMCO can hang on in the USA? It's no fault of theirs, we just don't appreciate functional 2 wheeled transportation.

Friend had its predecessor the 500 She sold it with almost 90,000 miles on it four years ago and the last I heard the guy who bought it is still riding it.

Their headquarters and main distribution center is in South Carolina. It's been there for a while.

Yamaha produced the 850 TDM thirty years ago with a 270 degree motor. You are correct its not new.
That 270 motor debuted in 1996 in the TDM and TRX, I believe prior to 1996 the TDM was a 360
You are correct. The MK l had a 360 and the MK ll has a 270
interesting statement. not sure mechanically what 270 means. I only have ridden the tmax 500 from 2009. nothing short of brilliant scooter overall. I particularly like the sound of the engine. 300 rpm lower idle than a 400 or 500 single. silky smooth. and very unique , dare I say two stroke sounding. you get two fires per two revs of crank, where the singles give only one.
love the news us soil gets this bike. price wise same as mp3 500. I think they will sell better than any maxi they brought in so far. and maybe it will trigger yamaha to import the 560. all good if you ask me.
