I currently have a big bike and a small one. When I get tired of wrestling with the big one I will definitely consider this scoot. I agree they should add cruise, a power screen and a couple of other nice touches, keep it under $10K, and it would be a bargain, IMO.

When a scoot cost more than a moto I'll be getting a moto.

They're all motos with different characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. The term 'scooter' is a misnomer as this was originally used for 50cc 2 wheelers combined with the term 'moped' at times. They're all motorcycles beyond that.

    that is the perfect point
the Kymco AK550 is an amazing vehicle
and worth every dime of what they are going to charge in United States
still, it really doesn't represent enough of a difference from my Yamaha XMAX 300 to justify adding it to my garage
the TMAX 560 TECH version... If it were no more than 11,000 would be another story
because that version as the cruise control and the electronically adjustable windscreen
but for $15,000 like they are charging in Europe it would be a waste of money to me
I hope that the AK550 sells like hot cakes in the US and then Yamaha will bring its version to our shores so I can make that decision one day

Yes, Tmax is expensive but you have to remember in Europe that any price quoted is the price you pay, it includes all taxes (VAT etc), setup etc, there isn't anything else to pay in addition to the advertised (or negotiated price), a little different to the US. In European countries, taxes are country wide, not regional (state in the US), so that's why the price advertised is the total price you pay.

For my needs the AK550 is a bit too much, when my CB500X is sold I'm thinking a 300cc model will be more than enough for me.

    i love my XMAX
but if I do want to go on a much longer trip with my friends who ride vehicles that go on the interstate to reposition ourselves to Georgia
then I don't own anything for that
the AK550 would be that item with a few more creature comforts like cruise control and an easier way to adjust the windscreen

I just subscribed to his channel , thanks for the tip.
I about fell out of my chair when he described the Metzler Feel Free ( sounds like a woman's hygiene product)
This guy might be fun to follow.

Yeah too much crap on it like a goldwing and such, big heavy, just isn't a joy anymore. I'm really enjoying my CB300R small light, low cost to own/operate, great gas milage, handles really well, what a great bike.

I don't see what's special about it. Only a 5 gallon tank, weighs as much as my Vstrom 1000. What mpg does it get?

    about 65 miles per gallon
    it is heavy
it does have less carrying capacity than the Yamaha XMAX 300
and it doesn't have the electronically adjustable windscreen or cruise control of the Yamaha TMAX 560... Though that's the tech version costing $15,000 in Europe
but it's the best by far maxi scooter on the market today that will be available in the United States
    it has fantastic technology
and here's something quite novel in the world of scooters... The speedometer is 100% accurate :y0!

Well, Europe is made up of more than 40 countries, all with different taxation etc, some with their own specific currencies. In Germany you can pick up a new AK550 for €8,700, in Portugal for €9,999, both are including all taxes/fess etc, you get the keys and ride away for those prices.
