Hey Joel — yes, as it turns out life has required I be all work and not much play for a while now, but I'm hoping that will ease up soon along with the virus. I've been riding and camping when I can, Grand Canyon, Zion, up the coast to the Lost Coast and Redwoods. Some dirt (managed S. Coast Ridge Road on my fully loaded Tiger, a personal best), but other than that mostly pavement; truly excellent pavement. Primarily though I've been sitting at my desk working, so I think I should still be every bit the off-road noob when I return as I was the last time you last saw me. :-)

Hope your recovery is still progressing well Joel. Keep up the good work.

Cheers everyone else. Hope to slow you all down on a ride again soon! Stay healthy and ride this virus sh** out.

PS I should add, what riding I've done was pre-pandemic. So it's been a while... sigh.

SK, thanks and it's good to be employed. We have to keep paying our taxes to pay for all the handouts and bailouts.

    :D

As far as my condition goes, the latest procedure proved there's nothing abnormal about my heart. I went to a series of testing including ultrasound and stress test, where they put me on a treadmill and monitored my vitals. The cardiologist is not sure what's causing the constant chest pressure and directed me to see my primary doctor or see another specialist.

    Life goes on....:ricky

Joel, we are not ready for the annual NSFW memorial ride. Glad to see you're Ok. The stress this pan(ic)demic has created has got a lot of us feeling a bit anxious and antsy. Not to mention the political climate. Always good to get a second opinion, because after all, doctors are just practicing medicine. Your generosity and good will pay big dividends when the seas of life get a bit rough.

    hello Russ.

annual nsfw memorial ride!....you're killing me...:dirtdog

i agree, too many terrible things going on. staying home is no fun either and it has been 7 weeks stuck at home since i came back from the PNW. at least, being in isolation is less likely i'm going to catch the virus.

    :rofl

Glad you're still hanging in there my friend. At least after the treadmill test, less worries about offroad activities (cardio).
Maybe a change from a #1 (Dbl-Dbl) to a #2 (Single) is in order. Let alone more severe dietary changes.

Yikes, that Crispy Pata! Had 'em during a backyard Hispanic party (familys carne asada / BBQ) featuring Carnitas being cooked in copper pot, and not in vegetable oil!
Did not care for the TOES!

Between the Local Fires, & CoVid, missing lots of riding, looking fwd to Parumph...

going to Mexico due to an accident. Leaving my motorcycle in LA for 45 days, is there anyone with a space that I could leave it with?

    Best regards,

I have a friend with enough space, behind a gate but not in a garage, that might be willing to allow it if there isn't anything else. NE Long Beach (Compton adjacent).

I was at the D37 Dual Sport LAB2V planning meeting last night. Seems peeps in the riding community are ready to get out and ride as the paid sign ups are up a lot vs same time last year. Obviously lots of precautions being put into place due to COVID but the D37 crew is ready. Last year the start location in Palmdale was new and will be at the Embassy Suites again. Big changes for the Barstow stop/start however, everything has moved to the Hampton Inn off Lenwood Rd (Barstow Outlet Mall).

Hope to see some ADV folks this year. Also, the event is always in need of volunteers to help out.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well Joel.
You know it probably (also) has to do with all the smoke. Up here we’ve been inside for weeks at a time. Really makes you feel just plain ill.

    sad isn't it?

lots of good doctors out there, just have to find them. problem is my insurance limits the services within the group. seeing someone outside will cost more or higher co-payment.

my biggest concern is if i moved to a small city, the medical services will be limited.

    BB. thanks.

actually, i feel good now. doing a brisk 3-mile walk and home exercise every other day.

yeah, lots of people staying home, based on cars parked on the street side in our neighborhood, so my guess is they are also being careful and taking extra precautions. so, it's a community effort.

definitely, i need to get out, take another long trip, meaning 2 months or more. adding solar to my van so i can run a fridge, stock up on perishables, and power several little electronics. taking a small bike with me, destination still unknown, somewhere not too cold.

Good for you going solar. I have a single panel and single house battery on my RV and can dry camp without hookups pretty easy. A small inverter will make coffee or run a hair dryer and we don't start the gen unless we need the microwave. Put in extra an battery if you can for capacity.
