That sounds quite interesting!!!! Bigger is better! That will be one giant slug... I'll be interested to see what compression, head mods, cam and carburator you end up with I will be trying the starter idea you have, although I have not had any problems lately with the starter I am hoping to get up to Tennessee or Georgia in the next week or so for a few days of riding, now that it's finally warmed up
Thats what she said CW said carb needs to be 45 to 48mm DAM can only get my FCR to 44mm MY guess on comp 10to1 for pump gas but???
Ied be happy with a 720,wouldent want to take up all his time.with a web cam 55-771. Did he do any HRC cams ?
I would like to build a 720 tork motor ( those KTM 690 Guys are killing me) 10:1 pump gas Ive look allover for the parts thay have the sleeves on ebay but I cant find the pistions or gaskets. I tryed ross,je,wisco xrs only . Dose anyone have part # or a link,or phone # If the parts are this hard to find is it a bad idea to build a 720 ?
A xr done right! Do you know howw much it wieghs full of fuel and what kind of milage are yyou getting with the reworked engine. My friend has a stock engine in his and he only gets 45 mpg.
Ya know, I have not weighed it... Don't really care what she weighs. She is planted on the street and does great off road. If I have the opportunity I'll weigh it, but I'm guessing she's a porker with all the bling bolted on??? Mileage, I don't know.... I ride for awhile and add fuel. My GPS took a dump last weekend and I was actually gonna check it. It seems pretty good actually, but I'll post up actual #'s one day. When I go ride, I just kinda ride and giggle like crazy and can't wipe the stupid grin off my mug. I keep forgetting to get all the specs and mileage and all.... Just the coolest bike on the planet in my opinion!!!! CW rules!
Well, got to get out for a ride last weekend with a few of the Georgia boys and some friends. The bike is fantastic!!!! Tires do go flat though: Bike looking good with all of the bags and stuff: She jumped off a cliff!!!!!! DOH! And here is a pic of her on the flat ground.... The shock does not have a lock nut for the preload and kept moving to the point it was unrideable.... That needs to be worked on. I was able to set the sag with the help of Mike from Tellico outfitters (what a great guy!!!! I'll buy all my gear from him from now on...) and all was good again. Sanjoh suggested drilling a hole in the ring and tying the nut in place with safety wire... I'll heed that advice! Hopefully this video comes up... It's a one handed ride while holding the camera while chasing Sanjoh, kinda weak, but it's all I got, so why not?: All in all the bike is a frikken' blast and I LOVE it! The seat is now being shipped off to Renazco for a vinyl cover... As much as I like the suede, it's not practical in the rain. Sanjoh is removing the bulb out of the racelight frame and is adding 3 of his ridiculously kick-ass ADVMonster 60 watt bulbs with a dimmer for the highs all wired to the stock harness to use the hi/low beam switch. The motor is currently pulled and off to CW to try a 724 shorter stroke with a cloverleaf head and monster valves and add an FCR45.... Can't leave good enough alone!!!!! With the 12.3:1 compression I was getting some mid to upper throttle detonation, so CW will drop the compression, shorten the stroke slightly, add 6 degrees to the cam (and slot the cam gear). With that being said... I have an almost new KeiHin FCR41 for sale.... PERFECT for a small overbore or stock with a cam and a pipe. I have re-jetted a half a dozen times or more to get it spot on for the 742, so it will need to be played with for alternate sized motors, and I or CW will be glad to help get her dialed in via cell for ya, if interested... How about $450.00 with cables? This has the choke and an external fuel screw.... The motor will be back in a week or two and then I am headed out for another weekend. By then I'll have the GPS replaced and will get the mileage and try to find a scale.... Braaaapppp
Finally getting to see the bike in it's element. The video didn't work for me so... Can't believe the shock didn't have a lock ring. How did that happen? Thanks for keeping us updated on the bike.
That bike is badass!!! Am getting the itch for a new bike. But the smart move would be to dump money into my L. Am heading to Utah for a week that will help me decide what route ill go.
hey wattner/CW great bike loved what u guys have done with it have u got any video footage of it or a dyno run id love to see some figures id be guessing something along the lines of 50HP
Thread resurrect...... I just got a call from Dad (CycleWizard) that his transport guy Eddie left the shop and is headed South with my old "L", the KTM 525 and a bunch of goodies. Here are the highlights: "I rebuilt the XR650 from the bottom up. New valves springs seals 5 angle valve job new cw 10.1 piston new rod crank bearings new cw dirt track cam. No decompressor on the new cam. New cw sleeve, new port work milled and squared cylinder and head yada yada yada. New cam chain and slides. NX 2nd and 5th gears." He said the bike pulls really strong through the whole range! I'm stoked to say the least! I will post some pics and impression when I get in the maiden ride!
