I have a friend who said he will drive my water truck over the whole course just minutes before me so I don't have to deal with the dust.... awesome. Another friend is going to anticipate where I will be cold and tired and he will be there with a hot-tub and massuse, what a set up. Then I woke up from my dillusion and realized I am going on this monumental trip...... I can't believe it.

    Just curious...

Is anyone planning to ride the "regular" route on an R1XXXGS?

I am riding my 12GSA & my buddy is riding his 950SE. I am a bit confused on the route.....it was my understanding (I could be completely wrong here) that there is one main DS route with alternate (read: easier) routes to bypass difficult areas. I know that we are planning on riding everything that we can. I am riding with an ex-desert racer so I doubt we will be taking too many alternate routes. We won't be riding @ race pace, however, we won't be poking along either.....as there will be cold beer waiting for us in the truck at the end of the day!!

We have a few people taking off with us at the start, so you're welcome to join us. Anyone riding NEEDS to be teamed up with a riding partner. Our agreement is that we will take care of each other & deal with each others issues. If someone riding in our pack has mechanical problems we will help within reason trail-side or by relaying information ahead to send help back....but also being mindful of our own ride (if you have a riding buddy who is committed to you, this is where he/she steps in & vice versa).
If someone is having health issues, we WILL do whatever we can to assist.

We are looking forward to see everyone there!!

I would still refer you guys to the D37 message board.
    http://www.district37ama.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5

yes, the main route is great and can be done on a pig, but you gotta bring yr "A" game.
there is a separate "Adventure Route" which has a lot of street and a lot of powerline roads, but still has sand(as ALL routes have, it's the desert).

there is loops or off shoots from the main "dual sport" route that are labeled "hard" or "hero".

if you haven't done a District 37 ride, basically to my knowledge, the hard route is "more difficult"(black diamond) and the hero route is "most difficult"(double black diamond).

there is TWO SWEEP CREWS!!! :deal

one with all the riders in the middle and one at the very end of the group.

you won't be left behind but you need to fix your own flats and other mechanical issues.

THE RIDE IS 8 DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ricky

You'll be on the other side of the 15 after Baker - ride organizers can't secure permit for Mojave preserve. I'll probably ride up around Lake Mojave / Searchlight

You'll be splashing through Afton then cutting up towards Rasor Rd./Baker (if Gil is staying with the usual game plan in that area).....I won't be anywhere near that area.....I'll be heading north out of Bullhead towards Lake Mojave/Searchlight.......at least that's the current plan :huh :lol3

May see you in Sandy Valley on Sat......Keith from D37 came up with a good idea....
Suppose I could explore Searchlight/Lake Mojave area on the way back down to Bullhead City on Sunday morning rather than on the way up to Lost Wages on Saturday :rolleyes ........so maybe I'll see you in Sandy if I can get an early enough start from BullHead City on Saturday morning (I'm already in trouble for bailing on Sat/Sun so I might as well "go big" and push the limits with the ALL DAY Sat. hall pass :nono :ksteve ).....maybe I'll take Mojave Rd. over to Lanfair.....jump on Ivanpah and gun it north.... then hammer along the roalroad tracks past Moore/Nipton to Primm.....fill up in Primm, and cut over to Sandy Valley......hmmm.....I feel an alternate plan coming together........very familar with that turf since I was just out there goofing around last weekend......after all, it's been a whole week since I last rode through Red Rock Canyon. :lol3

    I'll be on the WR250R - it's built for big miles/big smiles

Just booked a room at the Economy Inn in Barstow for Friday night $40.
The guy didn't seem like he was going to be that busy. Didn't even ask for a cc to hold the room.
