A buddy and I will be leaving El Paso around 9:30 tomorrow morning and riding towards LC. We will have lunch at La Posta in Mesilla arriving around 1130, then we will ride around the area, destination unknown. One V-Strom 650 and a Himalayan. Anyone else is welcome to meet up with us and ride. Text me if you're coming... 757 five oh three 7399

Really quiet down there. Is everyone letting a little 50 degree weather stop them? I will be down there mid January until May.

You are assuming there is such a thing around Silver. Everything I have seen there that you can legally ride is 2 track...sometimes rough. You can't ride OR in the Gila Natl. Forest but everyone would like to. You have to stay on established roads in there. The only place you would find single track might be on someones private property down there.

I go riding still on Sundays and Mondays. Usually in the deserts and arroyos near picacho peak and the desert west of there.

Hello NM riders. I am considering trying to use a hall pass to head down to the T or C area to ride Sunday/Monday/Tuesday-ish. Thoughts? Good time of the year? Anyone want to join me? Feel free to message me.

Thanks for the reply, but looking on the page you linked I’m not sure who T is?

My tentative plan is to ride Sunday, Monday and part of Tuesday. I’ll stage out of T or C but am flexible. I’ll be on my plated KLX300 so minimal pavement and gnar OK if with others, I tend to be a bit more cautious when alone because consequences are higher

Anyone interested in joining up or with suggestions please let me know!

Ah, it all becomes clear! Thanks for the info. Now a kid with a 102F fever may be putting a crimp in my plans...Hopefully he will rebound for tomorrow, if not may have re-schedule.

Are you saying you are riding out by Corralitos then? A long ways from Deming. Do you travel West at all?

If you get someone to go with you then Palomas Gap is really fun. A lot of open area to ride East of T/C and NW. The area to the NW gets high up towards Withington Peak and likely will have snow on it yet. Chloride Canyon near Winston may be rideable now. Recent snows/ice make December riding iffy there.

Thanks, I was thinking of both of those routes, but may have to punt now. Sick kid and new major work project :(

Hopefully I can spin that into a longer Xmas break trip...

The east side stuff (Palomas Gap, Apache Gap, tower farm) are accessed right out of TorC, but if you are on a KLX300 you'll probably want to haul to Winston to unload.
It's a long tug on a small dirtbike.

after you reschedule that is :D

Yeah near corralitos. I dont usually travel west but im not against it if i knew rising buddies. Im working on getting a ramp to load my dirtbike in my truck more easily, and i can take my 690 to deming as well for a daytrip as long as the trail isn't super gnarly.

Anyone up for The Great Turkey Burnoff of 2019? A casual ride mainly to keep from getting rusty. Probably on Sunday and depending on the weather... The Gila if it's warm, the desert if it's not.

So I was finally able to get a bike down and make some calls in regards to motorized single track in the Gila National Forrest. There is “not one foot of legal motorized single track in the Gila”. I was bummed; but the designated less than 50” trail on the MVUM is still pretty nice. Given the use and maintenance it might be single track soon enough. BE08156F-E878-44B0-A70E-51752C20BD22.jpeg

Lots of single track in Lincoln NF if you get over that way. Single and double track together must be over 200 miles.
