In 2015 - we shipped two bikes back from Panama. Complicated. I have more info than I have time to post. PM me if you want to know more.

i shipped from Cartagena to Europe. I "heard" that Lima is riskier port - bikes stocks for a while. By heard I mean one person whose bikes hadn't left the port around a month after he had dropped em off. Do the research before taking the plunge.

I just shipped a 20 ft container from Houston to Cartagena 2 months ago. I also shipped another container back in 2011. I used the same shipper each time. They are a family company located in Bogota. The name of the company is Portan SA. One of the executives can be found on Linkedin Her name is Paula Colmenares. You can mention Alfred Jones recommended you.

Al, did you ship motorcycles in that container? How did the Cartagena customs go? Any issues?

I used DakarMotos in October 2018 to ship an R1200GS from Buenos Aires to Chicago by air. The cost was $1,730, plus a $60 fee that United Cargo charged me at O’Hare. Javier and Sandra from DakarMotos were very responsive to emails and handled all communications prior to and after shipment very well, and all charges and procedures were fully disclosed and explained in detail up front. On shipment day, they met me at the prescribed location at the airport on time, and were there every step of the way while the bike was weighed, palleted, shrink-wrapped, and then sent to customs before loading. One of their agents even drove me back to my hotel after the process. Payment was handled on the spot through PayPal. The bike was shipped out the following day from Buenos Aires to Newark and then Newark to Chicago after a day layover, so total shipping time was about three days from drop off to pick up.

Not cheap, but if you want to air ship your moto out of Buenos Aires to anywhere in the world as easily as dropping off a package to FedEx, DakarMotos is the way to go.
