Tank is finally all welded up. It has two compartments, fuel and electrics. Still some work to go on this but it means I can start assembly, when I have the time.

Back on it at last. This is going to pay for my Wasp frame for the KR rep I hope which is due in Jan, better crack on.
Tank is most of the work, drilled for cap and cut a panel for electrics in the rear section.
It's going to be orange, that's what I got...brush paint of course.

Holes glorious holes, whatever happened to that Waylongway chap? I post quick before I fill them with m6 rivnuts and a brass strap. Waiting for a brass bolt and a copper washer to arrive to secure to frame.

Riv nuts all in, sealed the ones on the fuel end with epoxy. Brass strap construction started, another 9 to go, fortunately they can be a bit 'homemade' but still a bit tedious. I think I'll go to the pub instead and carry on tomorrow. :drink

Back the drill off for brass, take the rake angle off stops it grabbing.

I got half way through and I wished I'd skimped on the straps, persevered though, a nuclear explosion ain't shifting that tank now.

When Fleabay scale is misinterpreted, either that or I have a very big hand... I've gone for the hi-flow option.

For what you lack in holes you more than make up in straps

Found these BSP taps in a box, can't remember what they were used on?
Tapped with a bit of alcohol as lube and as luck would have it the washer is perfect for that final tweak to bring it in to line.
I think this bike probably needs a couple of two stroke weeps here and there though.

I made up the cover and drilled for rivnuts, of which I have now unsurprisingly run out of. I got some brass wing nuts for this. I can maybe use some countersunk screws through the rivnuts on the bottom to mount a flat plate in there for the battery etc.

Flatted back the primer on the ally tank in the paint shop, good weather in there thankfully. 1200 grade.

    IMG_5145.JPG

Note to self, when I next buy a frame to use in two years time, take the time to clean and prime it thus saving 2 hours of your life later on....

First coat, some runs to take out tomorrow. It is an authentic paint job :D

Hang it right side up for the final spray so the runs will be on the bottom of the tubes, out of sight...been there done that....head lamp is a good tool to use also.... :hide

    Spray??? :dunno
Brushes for an authentic (crap) finish. Actually it's not too bad, some touch ups and the bottom of the tank to do but quite pleased really.
