Great thread and excellent information. :)

I have a slight crunch when changing gear, I replaced with an Oberon, the fluid in the reservoir was dirty. Then a new chain, sprockets etc and it was OK after a proper bleed. Crunch came back, re-bled and it went again but is coming back grrr. I'm pretty sure I have a leak at my Master cylinder end. I can see a small amount oil under the dust cover but at first I thought it was spilt during the bleeding.

For the sake of a £30 seal kit I might invest in the improved Magura cylinder for £138. I'll bleed again tonight to see if it helps again then I'll be sure my sights are set on a leaking original (25k mile) master cylinder.

I used AppleHydraulics last year - $95 resleeving plus shipping. I'm in France, so shipping was close to $50 round trip. All things considered, I'd rather have the original master cylinder with the brass, than a different style replacement.

Works like a treat, even with the old seals!

Interesting, thanks for the reply. With the hit the £-$ rates have had recently it may cost similar to the updated cylinder.

However, do you have any specs for bore/sleeve that you had fitted? I may be able to coax a local hydraulics firm in to doing the mod? :)

Sorry no specs, other than it is a Magura 10.5mm. When I called Apple, I spoke with a friendly guy named Lazar. He may give you the info you need... or others on the forum may offer the same service.

I'm on my 3rd set of seals in as many years. Bike currently has 44k miles. I used my Harbor Freight scope to take a look inside the bore. It appears my bore is worn. I just ordered an entire new unit, but will explore sleeving my old unit as a spare. I might even try and do it myself (have lathe I need to use).

I do resleeving at a local workshop with stainless steel bore. It costs 135€, shipping included. I also install bearings at the joints, so they do not wear any more. I've done almost 50 and they appear to hold well.
    Cheers.

I haven’t sent mine to him yet, but I can say the new Oem part is not exactly great. I am going to get the old one fixed because I don’t trust the clutch switch in the new at all. The new one works, but the wiring is open. Excellent for failure from gravel dust and minor steams with mud. No likely.

I'm now having the same issue, master is leaking. I have a 2010 990r with 29k miles, has a oberon slave.

Whats the current advise? Has the OEM been updated to the new Magura standards yet?

If not is there anywhere in the UK that would do the re sleeving?

    Cheers guys !

    +1 on re-sleeving
Had issues for years, constantly adjusting it, leaking and what not.
Have had zero issues since getting it re-sleeved

    Not that I can see
They did a great job, clean work and I used All Balls rebuild kit.
So far so good and I've put quite a few miles on it already

I'd be interested in this at some point, I'm sure mine is letting some oil past and I'm not getting full disengagement. No leak as of yet though.

The KTM 990 clutch master cylinder is notorious for failing. After installing a couple of rebuild kits (that worked for about a year) I finally replaced mine last year. I'm going to have the old one resleeved. Any kind of sleeve should solve the wear issues. I'll toss in the resleeved cylinder if I'm on a long trip.

+1 on what Boatman says, if your in the UK then you can get a complete new unit from Venhill racing for£156 BUT they also do a version that you can use normal dot4 with,( I think that was slightly more expensive), anyways good luck.
