is it as simple as swapping out the bulb?

    instructions ?
    links?

The shape of LED replacements do not match the incandescent filiment, which means the reflector is incorrect.

The folks at candle power forums know this subject well.

But, it can be done. Oracle has an H7 bulb (2200 lm) that I would at least consider testing. Warning: it has an enlarged base for cooling. Also note, it is overpowered:

    Read the Cyclops specific thread.

    I have one in mine.

    Good:
    Light output
    Light color
    reduced current draw
    installs like a standard H7
    great customer service

    Bad:

On the 800, there rear plastic cover has to be modified to fit the fan assembly.
Pre 2013 bikes have a different housing and the rear cover is shallower. It has to be modified more.

So did you just cut out a larger hole in the rear plastic?
Thanks for the info I'll check out the threads.

I tried to buy one of the cyclops led bulbs at the touratech rally. Unfortunately on the 2014 f800gsa the end cap will not fit. Myself and the guy at the booth couldn't find a way to modify the cap to make it work.

I mis-typed above saying that the pre 2013 is shallower.

I meant to say the pre 2013 bikes have a different cap than the 2013-2015 bikes. Actually, the light is different but dimensionally the same. So the rear cap on the new bikes is even tighter. You have to cut the cap so the rear fan can stick out.

I have thought about trying to find a rubber boot that would fit but have not yet.

Cyclops has my stock headlight out off my 2013 bike. I know they've been using it for R&D and have it working, not sure what the specifics are though.

I just said screw it mounted up a laser/flood/flamethrower :evil

Yeah they go in fine but the rear cover won't go on. Maybe they will come up with a solution.

Got these in both low and high beam on my 2011 F800gs and they fit and work excellent (no error light or canbus issues at all). The only problem is the rear covers do not fit over the heat sink. Not a big deal really, as the bulbs themselves are waterproof and the headlight housing is vented anyway. I guess in really dusty conditions you could get some in the housing.

so you think leaving the back cover off is ok?
hows the projection on that thing?
I'm sure its brighter then the stock, but hows the throw distance compared to the stock?
