Lindy's bar in Wauconda (central Lake County Il.) is right on a big lake. We can have a fire, beers, chili etc. and spend a few hours racing around on the frozen water. Kind of a winter picnic for pussies who can't camp in the cold. Next Sunday is the Super Bowl, so we could do it the following (Sunday the 13th.)

Forget it. Pilot says I missed the boat and there will be no more riding this winter.

I'm up for that! But the odds that I'll get my seat back from Mayers in time is between slim and none. How late in the year will the lake (typically) be thick enough to safely ride on?

I just picked up a 99 KLR (OK, no jokes, I needed a cheap dual sport) and I havent had the opportunity yet to do more than ride it around the block. The idea of drilling in some ice studs and throwing it down the lake seems like the perfect way to shake down the bike. :lol3

Hmmm, I have a track only F3. Any idea how deep those ice studs screw in? I have a set of tires on there now that I could trash and I wouldn't miss them one bit!

They go in a half inch. The klr would be perfect.

Does next sunday work for you. I could go this Sunday AM but I want at least anther week for my clavicle to heal before I rip apart again.

How far are you from Waucanda?

I'm about 1.5 hours south, maybe less.

Anyplace around here to pick up the screws locally?

Still havent figured out the seat problem.

1/2 inch is too deep for a set of Michelin DOT/race compounds. Although it would be fun....

Let me see if I can scare up a seat, or at least put something together for next weekend. A rolled up towel and duct tape maybe?

Oh Jesus Christ, I MUST have the winter riding blues if I'm actually considering this!
