I swear I must have seen someone who used some cheap(er) U-shaped waterproof bags on here. I was looking at the SW Motech 700 Dry Bag. It sits on top and also has these sort of saddle bags as well. They remind me of the GL Coyote/Great Basin but not 400 dollars. More like...well....100.
Currently, I just use a 70 liters Kayaking bag for everything. Would last me several days of camping food but would need to filter water. Too cumbersome without a proper soft luggage set up with buckles, etc.

    Good Day

I started 2 weeks ago reading this thread before posting my camping stuff and how it fits on the bike. I have not done any camping at this stage as I work outside South Africa, but I am preparing and gathering my gear for the day that I start camping. I am now prepared with a wealth of knowledge, which prevent me from asking a questions that has already been answered here.

I have learnt what to take and not to take, how to prepare the bike and how to not piss off people because my gear does not conform to theirs.

I have read about stoves, coffee and hammocks which side tracked this thread.

I do carry whilst riding as I am not taking a chance in South Africa due to the things that are going on here. Some of the Camping sites are fenced in with guards on duty. There are very few places that are safe, so rather be prepared than sorry.

For coffee I make use of Nescafe sachets and use a lot of my military equipment for camping.

Thanks to all who contributed to make this site a very important read for people new to Motorbike camping.

Cheers and continue with this wonderful and informative site.
