    1979 Yamaha XT500 with 4.6k original miles.

Before: Needed a lot of detailing, mechanical & electrical work, and lots of other little things like: new tires, new brakes, new TM 36 racing carb, sprockets, chain, luggage rack, shocks, front forks needed rebuilding, new paint, lots of powder coating, new decals, new, new, new......

Stripped her down, since cleaning with a toothbrush was the only way to get the job done right!
    IMG_0207.jpg

And after: She turned out pretty nice.....

Wow! That is a beautiful bike. You should be running NORRA with me this April. Your 83' Honda would be perfect in Super Vintage class!

My R80G/S as it first arrived at my house from the original owner, 20 years old, 120,000 miles including a four year around the world trip.

After I had spent a few months and more than it had cost me just prior to its second trans-Africa trip.

This 24 y/o 1996 1100 Sport hadn't been washed for a long time, and it showed when I bought her last year. I spend about 10 hours in total washing, scrubbing, buffing, & polishing this bike! I did get the wheels power coated, since there were lots of paint chips on the original black wheels. I then had new Pirelli tires installed. I also removed the exhaust in order to really be able to buff and polish the Staintune exhaust. I must say that this bike turned out much nicer at the end then I expected it to turn out when I started.

It's hard to see in this picture, but the engine was really dirty from years worth of oil and dirt baking onto the casing. The 24 year old Staintune exhaust was also stained badly. But, it's a stainless steel system, so it should turn out like new again, with a lot of work......
    fullsizeoutput_21df3.jpeg

This is years worth of baked on dirt, dust, crud, and oil
    fullsizeoutput_21aef.jpeg

    fullsizeoutput_21aa3.jpeg

It took some good brushes and lots of heavy duty degreasers here.....
    fullsizeoutput_21aad.jpeg

Dust, so much dust and dirt all over this bike.
    fullsizeoutput_21abb.jpeg

Stained exhaust headers and more years worth of crud that needed to come off.... a toothbrush and some engine cleaner is your best friend here..
    VMMRvuIFT%GJe8yu58MRig.jpg

Wrapped all electrical contacts before I started to wash this bike......
    fullsizeoutput_21aa2.jpeg

And, a couple of hours later, she looks almost as good as new again!
    fullsizeoutput_21ad2.jpeg

I used lots of "Dust Be Gone" cleaner, which really did a great job.... :)
    fullsizeoutput_21a8b.jpeg

And the finished project...... The exhaust turned out looking again the way it did when it was first installed when new.......

This was the Staintune exhaust from the 1996 1100 Sport, which I buffed and polished until it looked like new again..... I used 0000 Steel Wool, Mothers & Autosol buffing and polishing compounds, toilet bowl cleaner with 10% hydrochloric acid, and lots of micro fiber towels. The toiled bowl cleaner did 80% of the work, and there is no way that I could have gotten this exhaust looking like new again without it!

I found this CRF230F on a farm where it was locked up in a shipping container for about a year.
Gave it some much needed love and it is running like a Swiss clock at the moment.

You my friend have a keen eye for details; however, I don't know what you are talking about? :) But, let's just say that a long-time-ago girlfriend of mine, who is from a small town located just outside of Darmstadt Germany (where her and I grew up together) gave me this license plate as a birthday present back in 2007. She was nice, I really like her! :)
