My only owned from new bike, bought on the never never, paid off in 1 year on apprenticeship wages (friday night on the piss,a bit of petrol money and the rest went on paying off the bike, worth it though).

I've ridden one a couple of times since (on holiday in Greece) and it still felt great, very easy off-road.

Just got out of the Air Force, $1000 burning a hole in my pocket, needed to buy economical transportation for myself and my bitchy ex-wife. She said if I bought a bike she would never ride on it, so I bought the newest bike I could get for $1000. This was in 1978, so a 1976 bike was pretty new for the bucks.
The KZ handled like it had a hinge in the middle of it, worst bike I've ever owned.
Very hard on chains and sprockets, liked to fall into turns, but I put up with it for 78,000 miles as a starving student, now with an ex-wife:clap

My dad bought three CR 60's and made one. This is the only picture I could find. I was seven years old. Next week I turn thirty, and I haven't been without a bike since. Thanks for the memories dad.

That looks like the perfect childhood....

    :raabia

I always wished I had a dirt bike at that age... It's the one thing I wish had been different about growing up....

1978 Honda CB400 Hawk. This isn't a pic of my bike as I stole the pic from craigslist. But mine had the same ugly blue paint, striping, and litle "Hawk" sticker. Bought it in Octobedr of 1982 for $600 with 5,000 miles on it. Commuted to college (free parking on campus!) and rode it hard for five years before selling. Absolutely dependable and bullet-proof machine.

After saying 1000 times that we couldn't have a mini-bike, our folks bought my brother and I each a mini like the one on the left. 2 Speeds and 4 HP!
