I have a lot of respect for that CX motor. I had two over the years...they weren't racers, but they were endearing. And it took courage for Honda to try something so different, and it's a shame they couldn't evolve it into a modern model.
Someone gave a Like to my photo of 2017's score, the Silver Wing. Like many others, that had a bad end - in that case, my own situation. Short of money, after neck surgery - and I had to sell a toy. I put all three of my bikes up on the List of Craig, and within hours, a guy a few years younger pops up, wants to see it.
Unlike so many other contacts on CL, he did come. He came with money. He listened; he rode it a block, and then paid my asking price, which was the price I paid for it.
Turns out his twentysomething son had just rebuilt a CX500, with some bags on it - and this guy wanted something similar. He loved the Vetter-style fairing and the factory cases.
I didn't want to sell, but I think it went to a good home. Oddly, I haven't seen it anywhere since, even though the guy was local. That never bodes well...but if he bought it for the engine, he overpaid.
That Kaw brings back fond memories.
If "one trick" you mean , creates modified motorcycles with skills and precision that you couldn't on your best day or in your wildest dreams , even approach. Well yeah.
Can't do a decent Elvis on black velvet either, even in my dreams.
Change it to a blue one and that's me.
A bit off topic here and not meaning to hijack this thread, but owning a Kaw 500 says a lot about a person's character. It doesn't quite sum up a person's life, but it's a pretty good indicator.
Something you might put on a tombstone......
1978 CB750A -- the unloved big Hondamatic.
And now DCTs are a premium.
No more wind protection like those Vetter fairings gave, but now no one wants to shift.

I bought my 1984 kawi 750 Turbo from the original owner about 10 years ago. She’s got 7k miles and a few discreet mods. Never restored however still in near-new condition.
That is such a slick job on the engine I didn’t even notice at first and I owned a Z1 from new! The guy is a genius.
