We've taken a few cruises, that there speaks VOLUMES!
I love travelling by motorbike and by cruise and I think they are at opposite ends of the scales in many ways but they work so well in different circumstances. Rio during Carneval is one prime example and I think almost cheaper if you get a deal.
you guys are not just passing through....immersing in the local scene, eating well and wanting to see most of the good stuff.
Time for the star of the show, Carnaval parade, now getting our tickets took some work, we tried to buy online from the official sellers, expensive starting at around $160us for below average seating, OK suck it up and pay it Josh you only there once, website is playing up and you need an address to have tickets sent to.
Cruise ship sells the tickets they start at $760 dollars..... For normal seats or $1800 for premium seats WTF.
Well Stubhub to the rescue, we looked on Stubhub and found good tickets for $110 each and says e-ticket available perfect, we bought them, pay and then it says no e-tickets available for this event we will be in touch, nervously waiting the next day we get an email, pick up from the Novotel the day of the event, sure enough we go and they have a meeting room set up and it takes about 15seconds - well done Stubhub.
There are only designated seats in one grandstand of 14, the tourist grandstand as they call it, we are in another stand but it's a new one with good amenities, except all the stands are just concrete no seats. We grab a spot and wait, the show starts after 10pm and runs to 7am, let's see how we go.
I had no idea how it worked but the have built a street with stadium stands and they hold parades for about 7 nights with different dance "schools" performing, these schools must have thousands of people each as you only see one school at a time and it goes for 45 mins per school.
We had a great time, the stands were packed in, mostly tourists but everyone was into and having fun, maybe it was the price of beer, I went to buy a beer, the girl is like we have a promo 5 beers in a bag of ice about $7 total, only slightly more than the price of beer on the street.
We stayed till about 130am and called it a night.
The night finished with some room service and all was good.
Next stop was Buzios, where we spent the day the beach....
Next stop Santos, it's basically the port for São Paulo, but it's like a 1.5 hour drive to the city, we hit the Beach instead, not the nicest but still ok then did some shopping before a huge storm came in....
Yes! Carnival! Amazing
Thanks, yeah we got super lucky with timing, wasn't planned.
Looking forward to see what you have install for us next and I'm glad to see your going to keep on riding somewhere, tomorrow is our last day on the bike sadly so things are starting to wrap up.
Wow, it's hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day. It's been great following along.
Hey Todd, hope you have been good. Yep we just parked her for the last time (well maybe a quick run to the shops tomorrow).
It's been quite a ride. Thank you both for everything.
(I still think you had a van following along as I don't think Stef ever wore the same outfit twice)
Back to one of our favourite cities and back to our favourite thing - lets eat!
We spent some time in BA just enjoying the city, before flying to iguazu falls.
Wow what a sight, these are truly outstanding. The park is extremely well set up and makes it super easy to see the falls. It rained a bit but we didn't care, if you ever get even close do yourself a favour and go and see them.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. It’s been fun for me and seems like it has been a lot of fun for you. Best wishes to you both as you go into whatever comes next for you.
Thanks so much for your report guys! Really enjoyed it.
Well done guys.
Was a joy to have hosted you at the beginning of your adventure and following along was very informative and entertaining.
Safe Future Travels
Ok let's get caught up...
Some more of the falls....
