I have two Magellan gps units, the yellow base and a platinum, still can't half use them. I live in Frederick county, MD one hour out of DC, Baltimore, And Harrisgurg. I would be happy to host a get together for the purpose of learning how to get the most out of gps. Any interest?

I will see if we can't track down Peter Jones as well, an old BMWBMW guy and Coast Guard GPS jock to play, he has PCS'ed back into the area. At least I can get her permission to post his GPS Power Point presentation.

Phil, you are pumping life into this old horse. I must be the only person around with the Magellan units, it seems everyone on the boards talk of garmin as if they were the only maker out there. The manuels and dvd tutorial, which was only some guy reading the manuel never floated my boat.
We live on a farm outside of Frederick, Md (39*21.097N 077*21.806W) and have hosted my bike clubs,( Northern Va Trail Riders, Mid Atlantic Trials, and Potomac vintage riders) here for fun days in the dirt and an AMA sanctioned Trials event in October. We have a 237 year old barn that we refurbed into our entertainment room, 2400sq ft with mucho seating capacity and a big screen for demo.
I have always felt I needed a hands on instruction to really get this down as I'm not a techy, although I was considered a wizzard with a HP12c.
We could have our own geocache on the property (180acres).
I have also saved 4 or 5 of the Nostalgia Run route sheets which are great little rides (60 to 80 mi) in the area (Catoctin Mountains and Farm land twistees)
    Lets get it together

I'll be very interested too. I live in Rockville but have spent my riding time pretty much in Western and N. MD. Please let me know when.

    Thanks!

I guess I failed :dunno. JVB has not returned one of my emails or PM's so I guess he is too busy slugging it out in JM.

In any event I'm up for one, I can do it here and also have an office near buy with a conference room and a warehouse for wrenchin that can be used anytime we want. Let's try to put something together after the holidays.

    The official BMWBMW answer:

I'm game for anytime after the holidays, not necessarily a riding event based upon the weather, but we could get together somewhere and just go over the basics, all it takes is a GPS, a laptop and some beer :1drink
