I put on 55 miles yesterday ,mix pavement and dirt roads with some rutted sections . I have to say a huge improvement, pulls even in 6th. Seems to have a little hiccup between 4 and 6k. though. Plug is nice light tan.Still have 45 break in miles to then l will change the oil to get rid of the assembly lube.

Cool to see a spot I used to ride often.

I need a bigger side stand foot, any recommendations? Ebay has cheap ones, Amazon's has them, Tusk for 2x the price.

I bought one on EBAY. It fit my 2007 even though it was only suppose to fit the newer generation. I like it and the bike is much more stable on the side stand now.

Thank you! I think I found a suitable piston.
will be 84mm so 344cc instead of 351cc.
It’s off a ZONGSHEN zs177cc (engine is used in new Asia wing, ajp, Fantic and more).
This engine seems to be of great quality so I have no worries about this piston.
I only need to make the wrist pin hole bigger. 17mm instead of 16.
Will be reporting back even if things go south.

I drilled a hole to my existing foot and bolted a hockey puck to it, countersinking the bolt. Lasted about a year? But worked real well while it lasted. And hockey pucks are pretty cheap, especially if you live near an ice rink where you might be able to get beat up ones for free. Leaving bits of rubber behind you all the time might have negative environmental consequences though.

I ended up buying the Tusk, the cheaper ones took over a month to deliver, from China. Rather not do business with China when I can avoid it, which can be hard to do sometimes.

Where are the Tusk ones made?

Probably China :(, but at least it's an American company. I guess Tusk is a part of Rocky Mountain ATV, big American company that supports motorcycle racing etc. I was driving into Moab not long ago and the litter removal on a section of 191 has their name on it, smart when you think about how many dirt riders see those signs.

Came down kinda hard in some trails and bent my license plate. I think the stock shock shit the bed as I now have tons of springy sag lol. Without creating an oil type thread question, can someone steer me the right direction for a decent new rear shock? Not looking for crazy suspension rebuilds, just need to get back out there before riding season is “over”. Thanks.

Your best bet would likely be a low mileage used shock. A quick Ebay search tells me that $200 should get you up and running.

In NC, you'd be crazy not to talk to @NC Rick at Cogent. Not only are they good at what they do with shocks, they had/have a KLX in their personal fleet.

Agree. If you are gonna spend $200, go the extra money and get a really good shock rebuild. Especially if you are keeping the bike long term.

Ok, cool. I'll try and connect with @NC Rick and see what's up. I'm not a huge shock guru mechanical knowledge kinda guy, just want to bolt off old one, bolt on better new one. Cost can be justified since I really like the bike.

I have heard that the KLX shock is a pretty decent unit that responds well to tuning so maybe the rebuild is your best option.
