    Hi!

I'm just a random Norwegian dude planning on a long trip trip throughout the south-west from the 29th of august to the 7th of september. Thought I'd just post the route here so that anyone who might be interested can join whatever parts of the journey they might be interested in :) The more the merrier!

Here's the preliminary route (I'm working on a fully fledged one):

Thata gonna be hot riding through Majove, Vegas and Death Valley

I would recommend riding through Big Bear, Arrowhead then silverwood then making your way to sequoias from there

Good choice doing 198 to Sherman Pass, make sure it's open. Looks fun.

If you're gonna brave the heat of Mojave and DV anyway (not sure if recommended), it's worthwhile to go a little further south past Temecula and hit Palomar Mtn Rd. South grade going up, East grade going down, then eastbound take S2 to S22 and you can see the Salton Sea, which would be missed with the route pictured above.

I'd accompany but I think I'll be out of the country

Also you gotta pay $12 to drive through Joshua Tree and you can't speed. Not saying it isn't worth it, just in case you weren't aware.

Thanks for the tips! I am indeed a bit hesitant about Mojave, Vegas and Death Valley.
The plan is to do Death Valley by night/early morning for some relief.
I also have a cooling vest I'll use.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into them.

Thanks, I wasn't aware :) Good to know!

I have only been through JTNP once, so maybe just got lucky, or maybe was there on a particularly fast day, but I very much enjoyed the drive from I-10 up to the main visitor areas of the park, just zipping along at well over whatever the silly slow limit was. Same as the other few vehicles I saw on that stretch. Enjoyed it very much even in the WifeMobile and found myself thinking what a great road it would be on two wheels. Actually, I remember thinking after we finished two days of "general tourist stuff" in the park that the drive through the bottom end had been the highlight. YMMV, of course.

Bummer, I’ll just miss you in Yosemite. I’m leaving Phoenix this Saturday for Sequoia NP, then I’ll be in Yosemite from the 25th until the 28th. Will be in San Francisco 29-31, and Pleasanton 31-Sept2

I was going to offer you a place to stay or eat in Oakdale on your way out of Yosemite but I just realized I will be in Reno 8/28-8/30 for the National Rib Cookoff and then headed to the NorCal BMW owners Gypsy Tour on the 8/30-9/2. Hope you enjoy your trip and sorry I missed you.
