Another thought. I'm pretty sure the burned out car the Mexican dude showed them was from the Bavispe Mormon attack. Over 2,500 kms from Oaxaca. Pure sensationalism.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. That was way up northern Mexico.

Anyone else put off by the fact that Claudio is virtually non existent?

If I had to ride a Sportster I would hide also.

Well he is the cinematographer- not one of the stars. But we do have David in there a lot but he is the producer.
Plus who wants to be seen on a Sportster?

I miss seeing his perspective, especially since he was so interesting in Long Way Round/Down. I guess they're trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience on LWU? That could also be the same reason LWU seems more heavily tilted towards Ewan than Charley (usually from Ewan's perspective, or his voice narrating, etc), to get broader appeal.

Alternately, his wife was ill during this trip and the production were very accommodating in giving him the option to stop in the middle and go home in case of any medical emergency. They could've deliberately not included any on cam footage of Claudio in case he would be absent at some point for the rest of the trip.

Claudio was heavily featured in LWR and LWD despite being just the cameraman.

I would like to have seen more of him too. He is definitely the most interesting of the group.

I dunno, but watching this crap really highlights what was great about LWR.

This just has no sense of authenticity which was one of the hallmarks of the first one.

Did Charley have a stunt double? He is one banged up wreck.

Can anyone tell what comms systems they decided on using? It looks like Sena but hard to say. Was curious since they could choose pretty much anything they wanted.

I like Charley very much and have all his book's. He proved nothing at Dakar. He has never raced in the desert and his skill's are very limited. It was a very good view about all things Dakar. I think he would be hard pressed to even finish a district 37 desert race let alone a Dakar race. Great guy with a heart of gold but not any kind of desert racer.

There is a discussion between Claudio and ADVrider on YouTube that is very interesting and goes for an hour and a bit. Interesting chap...

I would have thought just going in Dakar would be an achievement. I was a skilled enduro rider before I got injured. Doubt I could have done it. I failed at a four day enduro. Fell asleep leaning against a tree on day three.

    Just finished the last episode.

So when are they going to release the Extended version or the Uncut version or the real story version without the dramatic bs?

An ADVRIDER version? Or even a blooper reel?

I did like the Apple version but it seems way too short. Some countries were missed altogether ?

If I win the lotto I will buy a Livewire. I was one of the people who got to test ride the prototypes. There was a brief shot of me in some of the Harley video advertising.

Riding a maxi-scooter (2014 Honda Forza 300) is similar to riding a Livewire. You really have to plan your stops with the limited range. No shifting also. Limited parts availability.

There was a brief shot of a Livewire rear tire in the last episode with full tread. How many tires did they wear out? Movie stars always have perfect tires. My maxi-scooter always needs new tires and they are hard to get. Never yet seen one on the shelf at a dealer.
