I thought I'd throw this out there to try and garner interest in getting together a group ride out in North Vietnam, to help cut down on costs.

    Here are the details:

Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau, ~160 km, ~5 hours
    Day 2: Mai Chau - Phu Yen. ~140 km, ~5 h
Day 3: Phu Yen - Son La, ~160 km, ~6 hours
Day 4: Son La - Tuan Giao, ~140 km, ~5 hours
    Day 5: Tuan Giao - Than Uyen. ~160 km, ~6 h.
    Day 6: Than Uyen - Sapa. ~120 km, ~5 h.
Day 7: Sapa, trek or relax
    Day 8: Sapa - Bac Ha. ~90 km, ~4 h
    Day 9: Bac Ha - Xin Man. ~50 km, ~3 h.
    Day 10: Xin Man - Ha Giang. ~140 km, ~6 h.
Day 11: Ha Giang - Dong Van (~180 km, ~6h).
    Day 12: Dong Van - Bao Lac (~80 km, ~4 h).
    Day 13: Bao Lac - Cao Bang (~150 km, ~5 h)
    Day 14: Cao Bang - Quang Uyen (~140 km, ~5 h.
    Day 15: Quang Uyen - Lang Son (~180 km, ~6 h).
    Day 16: Lang Son - Hanoi (~150 km, ~3 h).

If anyone has interest, please let me know! Im just a regular joe in California USA and it would be awesome to meet others to ride with on a journey like this.

Far as what I brought along with me on my last journey, I brought Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, few days clothes, and camera! I even brought a small netbook since free wifi at the hotels was common.

If youre interested in joining, shoot me a PM.

    noone? :D

Here's a past ride I did with the same outfitter.

I just made the ride report even though its over a year later.

I think these guided rides, while not "true" adventuring in the sense youre on your own on a dirtbike, still offer tons of fun, challenge, exploration, are relatively affordable, and they can be tailored too.

Again, Im not trying to sell a tour.. I just want to see if anyone wants to share costs on a ride this fall.

I would be interested in talking to you further about this. I plan to take a bunch of time off in October and my dates are flexible. My only caveat is that I am not a fast, aggressive rider. My objective is to enjoy the ride, not rush through it. Ironically I have already emailed the some company and talked to them about a trip during that time. PM me if you are interetsed.

    Good luck on your trip.

Were heading out on January 4th for the "Big North" ride. So far 3 guys (inc. me) on dirtbikes, and 1 guy on a GL160. Still 2 spots open...
