It's gettn' old I know but here it goes anyway!

This while a 650wee is still warm on the table lol...shit just happens!

So this is my 4th one since 2001. Ironically it's an 06 blue one just like my last build about 4 years ago. Picked it up from an original owner with 14k kliks on it (about 9k miles) bone stock in pretty much exc condition for a very reasonable price.

    thumbnail_IMG_20190909_181029.jpg

I put around 300 kliks on it on and off in couple of days than put her up on the table and within hours looked like this.

    thumbnail_IMG_20190919_185601.jpg

Decided on a set of DRZ400SM front forks that I had kicking around.
Next was a long list from ProCycle, Warp9 and few other places which all arrived within last week.
    More eye candy lol.
The wallet is not laughing tho!

Warp9 Adventure wheels (17x4.25 and 19x2.5). This build is more for road use with some off road adventure here and there.

Thanks to ProCycle and Warp9 for fantastic service all around!
These candy stores are hard on the wallet but I'm glad they are around ;)

I'm hoping to get few things done before the weather is totally in the toilet.
Here in northern Alberta It's already snowy and well in negative temps and I got no heated space.
I'm cold already just thinking about it lol..

    Looks fun!

I put the same SM forks into a same blue '06.
Shoot me a pm if you need any tips, i ran into some minor steering lock issues with the oil cooler and the SM triples.
Also the overall height of the forks is ~10mm more than the stock even though travel is the same - not sure how that works out with your change in wheel size. I added 5mm travel to the stock shock (12mm ride height) and kept 21/17 wheels

    Yes unfortunately it is.
When I started the thread I thought I'd get around to most of it but as usual things go as planed lol.

I decided to go with the 790kit and a cam but I cant get the motor apart for the cylinder core for a while so I just ordered the cam for now.
I spring when I get to it I'll make the decision on the big valve head...got too much in this thing already!

Nooo!! Prime riding season here in central North Carolina! I picked up a nail a couple weeks ago, fortunately,I am in close proximity to a great shop that got me back up quickly. Was excellent riding today, about 38 this morning and 70 degrees on way home at 4pm. Good luck with the build. Sharp looking bike.

Oh how I miss your neck of the woods! I lived in Toronto area for 25 years and ventured across the border regularly. Started riding that whole area around 93 and discovered Deals Gap shortly after. It is motorcycle heaven and the weather too.

Made some good friends that I haven't seen for some time now. Moved out west in 07, 2500 miles farther which killed that pilgrimage.
Unbelievably to my self my last ride in the are, gap include was in 10.

I loved riding my 1st DR down there. Beating up on sportbikes at the gap was Icing on the cake :D
Local boys got me into the whole Dualsport/SM thing..

Looking forward to this build with the 790kit....should be fun.

    Thanks..

Lol I just realized that the logo is different between the two bikes. Don-no, maybe it's Canada US thing or It's possible that the other one was an 07 or maybe 05 but I have it in my head that it was on 06. You know Suzuki's great with bran new bold graphics :lol3
I've gone through so many bikes I cant keep track lol.

Well do to some bad circumstances my plans took a complete 180 and I'm at my projects a lot earlier than expected which is bitter sweet.
First and foremost my dear mother passed away 3 weeks ago :(...Miss her dearly and will for a long time!

Between that situation and this world mess I decided to postpone my Europe trip, rent a heated work space and get these projects dealt with quickly and promptly.

In 35 years of riding/racing/tracking and building bikes I have never spent so much in mods on one bike as I have on this DR :eek7
Yankro on the way and another package (bunch more stuff including the a 790cc kit) from ProCycle.

ProCycle is like a crack house :lol3

So here we go again...At least its a good way to self isolate from the bullshit :rofl

Sorry to hear about your mom and I hope the build helps distract you and give you time to reconcile some of those feelings.

We’ve all lost loved ones and there’s nothing easy about it. Time does help. Enjoy that build. I look forward to watching. And as for my “gray” s on my blue tank, that’s how they were in 05. I know that was an old question I had for you. Then I finally found the answer. Only year that had that scheme as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Time heals and/or numbs things life is such and we go on till our turn comes.

Not sure what's up with the color and year thing...I'm pretty sure it is registered as 06. I'll have to check my registration.

I was going to the powder coaters tomorrow but now I decided that I should look at few reinforcements now that I'm this far.
