Hey WY G, the first pic you posted yesterday really hits me. I grew up on Hat Ranch at the end of the Mayoworth road, and drove that road every day to high school in Kaycee. Were you going to head up the Slip Road? Sure do miss that area. Thank you for posting the pics.
Yes sir, when I teach in Sheridan I leave the pavement at Kaycee, go over the slips and up Hazelton Rd to get 16 then down to Buffalo or sometimes over to Tensleep then up to 14. Basically, I turn a two hour ride into an all day ride. :)
George, Was browsing through Day Trippin and saw your thread. Because of our conversations on the IBA thread I decided to catch up on your travels through Wyoming tonight. Thanks for all the pictures and stories. -Mark
Thanks Mark. I'm not great about remembering to post on this thread, but I try to throw something up here from time to time. G
Winter sucks! Bike stuck in the garage, and it's killing me. Hope we get some nice days to get out soon! LOL
It’s been a pretty warm week in Casper, up in the 40’s every day. The wind has been brutal though, occasionally dropping down to 20mph, but mostly 40+ A hundred miles west they saw 120mph winds yesterday.
Ah, the Wyoming Christmas winds! In the 1970 when we lived in Casper a 120mph wind event rolled a bunch of mobile homes over just west of Paradise Valley, scattering all the homeowner's belongings and Christmas trappings through the sagebrush up the side of a hill. Very sad Christmas for those families. I don't like winds over 10mph but moved from Casper to OKC and the wind is almost as bad here. We spend the summers near Durango and the wind wind seldom exceeds 10mph! Love it there!
Hopefully it’ll be nice for you. The forecast shows the winds dying down and snow rolling in for a few days.
WY...my second favorite State after CO. Sadly I live in IL Took a long ride out west a few years back. Here are some of my WY pics. In the Bighorns north of Tensleep
No they did not. I learned to cover up pretty good in the army after an incident with a scorpion in my sleeping bag. One learns pretty fast...after the fact.
Same here, 1969 White Sands N.M. boot camp..Snaplesnakes..scorpes...& just sneaky night crawling things...I have carried a flashlight since then, I have two in my jeans right now........
I really enjoyed this. So much lay of the land I can relate to. I may consider an Alberta version of such a thread this summer. I've never done a ride report. This year seems like a good one.
