That's a hell of a day of riding! I grew up in Wy and go back often taking back roads and FS roads to get there from Port Townsend Wa. Spent a month there in July/Aug.
Thanks for posting All and thanks for starting this thread Wyo George. ?Mcgee, care to share some of those back roads from here to there? Thanks, dd
Hi Dave! Lets see some of the back roads to Wy. Iv'e taken many routes, some FS and some just nice back roads. One I like to take from PT is on the east side of Mt Saint Helens to the Columbia river, then east towards Lewiston. From there I have gone over the Nez Perce/Lost Lolo trail then over Lemhi pass to Mt. Another is from Lewiston towards Riggins Id then up the Salmon river to French creek rd to Burgdorf hot springs north of McCall. From there to Stanley Id on FS roads. I like to enter Wy from there south of Jackson in Alpine and take the Greys river south and cross over to Pinedale. Of course Union Pass is a must to Dubois. The Pic above is on Union Pass. We will have to get together and talk about the many way to Big Beautiful Wy.
Took a few days and made a big loop; down Grey’s River, across the Jonah field to South Pass, up the Lander cutoff, over Union Pass then home over Togwotee Pass. A really nice three day ride, weather was ideal!
This is down right mean. Quit posting this stuff. Some of us still have to go to work! There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.
Not real exciting, but WY nonetheless. Here’s my road a few miles past my house. I was just out for a quick ride around the neighborhood and thought I should snap a photo or two since I’ve been neglecting this thread.
At one time there was a small fire lookout building on top of Steamboat Point. Hiked up to it when I was a kid. Wonder if it's still there. Thanks for the pictures and that's a nice cutthroat. Is that a Renegade fly?
Thanks for the pictures guys! The scale of your landscape is incredible. Gravel back roads in the West on a bike are truly the best way to travel. Signed, … a flatlander.
It was such a nice day, just had to get out, who knows how many more chances the weather will allow. This is Mosquito Creek, the trail is thru the old Green Knoll fire area of several years ago, it’s riding really nice except for the deep piles of loess in the corners!
That’s because that was a summer picture Here’s what it looks like today: (pulling the kids around the yard...
I’ll remind you in August when it’s 80 at my place with no humidity and Texas is slightly hotter than the south side of Hell.
