All right, the time has finally come. Im going to be taking my '02 XR650L to all the lower 48 states, and possibly more. I live in Orange County, California, and will be heading in a counter clockwise rotation. My '02 XR650L has 1,700 miles on it currently, and I'm looking to put around 20,000 miles on it by the time I'm done. I've planned on being on this trip for around 4 - 6 months. I've been wanting to do this for over a year now, and have had a great time planning it. I have many goals for this trip including; hitting the 4 extreme corners, seeing a shuttle launch, and seeing my friend's wedding. I also want to stop and take a picture at a Honda dealer in every state. I know that some states don't have "only" Honda dealerships. So as long as there is a Honda sign then I'm good. Other than that I don't really have any other times or places to be. I do have places I want to go and people I want to see, but those are all flexible. So if anyone wants to get together and do some riding, let me know. I've created an email for this trip for anyone who wants to contact me. People can either contact me here or PM me on this site, if you're a fellow inmate. dualsportdave24@yahoo.com I'd also like to thank all my friends and family who helped make this trip possible. You all know who you are. Departure:
You've got the right stuff! Although some may disagree and criticize your minimalist approach to such an epic adventure, most detractors will have just never got it between their ears to start off on such a great ride with such a simple approach. You can't buy enough stuff to make it happen. F@#% farkles and Just Do It. Nice bike!
Lucky I'd love to ride with ya a while have fun OHH!! almost forgot what kind of tires you have on that thing? They look pretty good.
Oh yeah, I'm in. I'll be on the BRP (Blue Ridge Parkway) in early July heading up to NH and points north. Maybe we can meet up?
I envy you! Sounds like a fantastic trip. If you come through Mississippi, and need anything give me a shout. My BRP is jealous of the trip yours is taking.
This is a great way to start out the riding season. Make sure to post lots of pics of your daily travels.
Sounds like a great trip... Of all the bikes I've owned the XR650L has been my favorite. Have a safe journey! P.S. Why not come see us in AK?! P.P.S. Hi. First Post.
I ride your BRP's offroad cousin, a 650R, so I am looking forward to following this thread. Good luck!
Holy Crap, what great first two days. Unfortunately I'm responding from my phone so no pics yet. I've got a tons of great ones and stories to go along with it. Ill have internet tomorrow night so ill post some pics and stories. The quote of the day "And this is only day 2." . Thanks everyone, ill hit some of you up as I come thru.
Well unfortunately I didn't make it to Prescott AZ today. Ill be camping out in the desert in south western AZ. Also my camera broke so ill have to get a new one. I can't take pics, but I can get the ones I took off... I believe. So ill post them up when I get to Flagstaff tomorrow night. 7 hours of off roading and all the troubles that go with it was fun yesterday. Apparently there was an earth quake like 70 miles from me. Where I was it was it 6.9 I believe. LOL I was ridding and didn't even feel it. O well off to camp. I WANNA UPLOAD AWESOME PICS.
I'll be watching along with everybody else... and wishing you all the best -- especially some terrific memories on your trip of a lifetime!!!! Godspeed, dude!
