Sadly, I've confirmed this via his brother FB page.
Godspeed - Dave
Hi all, this is ShooterDave's fiancée. I noticed your comments and wanted to confirm the details. ShooterDave was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia back in June of 2013. He fought a damn good fight and went to be with the Lord January 11, 2014. He was an amazing man and I was privileged to be his fiancée. In the 21 months I knew him we took a total of three road trips on a 650 V-Strom and we both loved every minute of it. He loved life, motorcycles and bringing joy to people's lives. I feel honored to have known him.
I'm sorry for your loss. While I never had the pleasure of knowing him very well,I know he's an awesome person and this is truly a loss to this world.
I messaged Dave's brother on facebook as well asking this, but is there somewhere I could send a letter to the family?
Dave had Leukemia. It was a fairly recent development. He sought treatment but it yielded no results so he chose to not seek further help and to spend the time with his girlfriend I believe. That is the last I heard from him and that was a few months ago. Before Thanksgiving? I was sad to hear it when he told me but he was at peace with his choice. Dave lived an incredible adventure I was luckily enough to meet him when he came through and be a part of it - Best sick day ever for me! :) He left a mark on my life and was truly one of the happiest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
It is truly tragic that Dave has passed on but it would have more tragic if he had died having not lived a life at all. Instead in his short time here Dave took advantage and lived a life that made him happy. We should all be so lucky.
Dave I will never forget how you just couldn't stop smiling when we sat at that burger king for lunch. I remember being so envious because you were so abundantly happy and at peace because you had the courage to live the life the way you wanted to. I admire you for having the courage to die on your own terms too. I know it was a hard choice but you faced it head on with no fear. I'm proud to call you my friend.
Sorry for your loss.......Dave was a great guy,,i will surely miss him..we had great times together...
A life well lived.
Condolences to you and all who knew him.
The ultimate trip.
Thank you for coming here and informing us. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
So short, but a life well lived. Godspeed, Dave.
You will be missed brother.
rip Shooter Dave
My thoughts are with his Family and Friends.
my best for his family he was an amazing kid, and an inspiration to many
That is terrible to hear and tragic. Our little print shop out in Pipe Creek, TX enjoyed making him some shirts for his journeys and share his adventure in spirit
This is indeed very tragic news... I enjoyed reading about his adventures.
I read this RR from the day he took off on his adventure, it truly was a great adventure, not just for Shooter Dave but for us that had the pleasure to follow along with him.
Absolutely gutted to hear this. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I followed his ride report as it happened and I remember it well. The world has lost a great guy. It's good to see that he was surrounded by people who loved him through this. Watch out for us all while you're up there Dave.
Wow, so shocking. RIP Dave
