Turnipseed campground is actually quite nice. Even with the "accomodations" It is quiet and peaceful. Without full hookups only wilderness campers would probably show up. We are staying there next time if we can.

    DSCN1899.JPG

Time to leave, but we quickly found that the road ended. "But, the map said......"

When will Mr. Munch learn. Experience tells more than a map. So we asked a couple of riders coming out of the dirt road. They said "it is Bella worthy".:happay

I told Mr. Munch hold on tight. You showed me I can do this, now quit worrying and let's go. Off we went.

    DSCN1901.JPG

Wow what a great ride. Mr Munch even let out a couple good Wahoo's.

We even had some decent views. The camera doesn't really show it though.

    DSCN1905.JPG

Look at this place we found. When it's finished, wow wow weee. I wish I could hang out here.

    DSCN1904.JPG

At the end of the dirt road we came across a paved road. Mr. Munch usually has a good compass in his head, at least after breakfast, so we turned right.

Even after looking at the map we still can't figure where we were. After taking the right, we came to this.

    DSCN1911.JPG

Decisions, decisions. We made a left and it must have been correct. Eventually we ended up in Sylacauga on Hwy 21 south toward home.

We followed 21 South which turned to 23. We found this cool place just south of Rockford. Mr. Munch knew it was there but we have never stopped.

    DSCN1912.JPG

It's abandoned and looks like a house. On the other side, it looks industrial, so who knows. It's still neat.

We went through Montgomery and got on 31 South. We were determined to end this dreary day and get home.

Mr. Munch got scared of the dark around Greenville. He kept mumbling something about some girl named Bambi. What ever. :baby

With no plan it was back to another motel. Also, another Shoneys. Both were much nicer this time.

The next day we woke fully rested to a bright sunny warm day.:jkam

Wahooo!!!! Let's roll. We cruised right down 31 through Evergreen, Castleberry, Brewton, Flomaton, Atmore and home. We took a break in Flomaton.

    DSCN1914.JPG

    Sexy. Ain't I?

So what did we learn on this trip?
    1. Scooter miles are longer than car miles.
    2. Mr. Munch can ride about 300 miles in a day.
    3. Mr. Munch is not as tough as he lets on. If he can't get to a campground before dark, it's a motel for us. Especially if it's cold.
    4. Waterproof gloves. Anytime the weather is below 70 degrees.
    5. Zippo hand warmers when placed next to your chest produces enough warmth to really make a difference in the cold. At first he wasn't sure. Then, the fluid ran out. Shiver, shiver, shiver.
    6. One of the best products on the planet....

    DSCN1918.JPG

Never came loose. Never lost equipment. Easy to do even when your hands are cold.:clap:clap:clap

    7. And lastly, Mr Munch doesn't have enough vacation to take me to Colorado. He told me he would have to leave me at home and rent a bike out there. :2cry

This trip concludes 1007 miles. We wanted to take a pic of the trip counter but, 998, 999, and 0 miles. :hair

Until next time. I hope to see you out there.

    Hey y'all. Bella again.

    IMG_20170803_081214.jpg

Rides are getting shorter since the days are getting colder. Plus Mr Munch is running low on fun, funds, thanks to my seat cover accident. Still he managed to take me out last weekend to the Perdido River area.

He just wanted to find a nice place to string up the hammock, lay out in the sun and listen to some good music. I sure like spending time with him this way.:raabia

First we explored Fillingam landing. It's a canoe landing just off of county road 97 on the Florida side of the Perdido river. The landing is well maintained and appears to be a great place to canoe.

    DSCN1920.JPG

The parking area was nice and had plenty of maintained porta potties. There wasn't a really nice place to set up a hammock so, we just snapped a pic of me next to a huge cedar tree.

Further south on Hwy 97. We came across Otto Hill campground. It is maintained by the state, but you have to call ahead to get access. From the map it looks like a great place to camp. I think I will encourage Mr. Munch to come back. If anyone has any experience with this site, some feedback would be appreciated.

    DSCN1925.JPG

With no access code to the gate, we moved on to the next landing. We have been close to this landing before, but it was flooded out and I chickened out. I think Mr Munch was glad though.

"The Pipes". Why that, I wonder? From the sign, you can see why it may have been flooded out last time we were here.

    DSCN1928.JPG

This is a nice place too. They had a decent landing, although not as nice as the other one. This place also had a few maintained Porta Potties as well. Plus it had a little grassy area with picnic tables and a couple grills.

We didn't get pics of them but, here is one of the landing.

    DSCN1934.JPG

Mr Munch set up his hammock right behind me. He let me have the better view. I like to think he just wanted to admire me.

    DSCN1936.JPG

Right in front of me is a mini landing for swimmers. The water is shallow and clear. I bet it's a lot of fun in the summer. Mr Munch tried to wade a little, but he didn't stay long. Brrrrr!

Well, that's all I have for now.

We hope to see you out there.

I'm hoping to go down the perdido river canoe trail sunday but I would likely choose a dirt set up over my scooter....

I don't know if anyone further along than I answered your question, but the building in the fort is called a bastion. In case you were curious later.

Hey Y'all. It's me Bella again. Mr. Munch and I went for a little run this weekend. Finally got above 50 F. We decided to go on a short run down Scenic 98 through Old Town Daphne. We came across a great mural. You know Mr. Munch likes those. Here is his favorite.

After looking at a couple of others we went a little further south. This little bit of scenery isn't marked and you would miss it if you weren't on the look out. As it was we were going slow and just poking around interesting streets.

    IMG_20180107_114843988.jpg

Here is a look at the walk way.

    IMG_20180107_115129317.jpg

and for the wonderful view of the bay.

You can still see the original piling from the pier when it was destroyed in 1916. I guess those poles will never rot.

Since we were just poking around for the day, I talked Mr. Munch into going to the Fairhope Pier. He got a nice pic of my good side.
    IMG_20180107_121840791_HDR.jpg

There is a restaurant on the pier but, for once, he wasn't hungry.

    IMG_20180107_121723389.jpg

He wanted to keep going. So further south we went.

Eventually, we got off 98 and took a detour on Baldwin County Rd 1. It eventually led us to Mullet Point, and then to Pelican Point ramp at the mouth of Weeks Bay. This is a great place to get a view of the Bay. By this time it was cloudy, windy, and Brrrr cold.
    IMG_20180107_132424194.jpg

We got a visitor while we were there. Ever wonder what a Pelican does in sub 50F weather? Wonder no more.

    IMG_20180107_132835897.jpg

They hide behind me to block the wind. Everytime Mr. Munch moved he would come closer hoping to be fed. Mr. Munch is a good steward of the environment so he told him that he would have to feed himself. It was sad watching him just hunch down in disappointment.

While Mr. Munch was taking "Racy" photos of me he saw some type of Crane. Not being a, (according to google) "birdyologist":imaposer Mr. Munch thought that was funny when he looked it up. It's funny what people put online. Anyway, we don't know what kind of bird it was. My racy pic first though.

Now the star of the show......

    IMG_20180107_132651251.jpg

These guys were just too cold to fly away. I guess they see the goodness in Mr Munch, just like I do.

On the way home we did stop for a half sandwich and a cup of soup. He just loves his Panera Bread.

Until next time. We hope to see you out there.

That would be a Great Blue Heron. The Pelican is a juvenile Brown Pelican. Your posts actually make me want to visit Alabama.
