I have a question related to the purchase of a bike in Montreal and riding it back into Ontario. I have been riding for a while now (not in Canada) however, my experience was not considered in Ontario, and I had to start from scratch. I got the M1, did the training and passed the test. I am now waiting for the 60 days to get over, - which will be in 18 days - and then I will upgrade the license to M2. The insurance considered me as an M2, after I sent them a copy of the certificate. So I got the quote as a deemed M2 rider The question I have - Is an M1 valid for me to purchase the bike in Quebec and ride in for the time I cross Montreal into Ontario, with the same restrictions that are applicable on a M1 rider in Ontario? (No riding +-30 mins after sunset/before sunrise, no highways with speed limit of >80km/h) Assistance appreciated.
Same rules apply for your M1 and M2 no matter where you are riding. Cops in Ontario are familiar with Quebec restrictions, I assume cops in Quebec are familiar with Ontario restrictions.
There were no issues on my ride back so I can safely say that - yes, an M1 rider can ride in Quebec contingent on the fact that the rider stays within the limits of the restrictions applied on him/her.
