I've done some of the PA sections of the MABDR last summer and really enjoyed it. The linear makeup of the BDRs makes the logistics a little tricky if you want to avoid a dead-end run back home from one of the endpoints (I live outside of Philly).

To avoid this I'm going to combine a couple of sections of the MABDR with 1-2 loops of the IMAT (Infamous Monongahela Adventure Trail). This way I only have about a 2-hour ride from home to the start and endpoint.

Technically the start point and endpoint are the same so I'm hoping the change in direction gives the trail a different feel during the repeated 1-1/2 MABDR sections. Right now I'm targeting June 24th - 27th to do the ride.

    I'll post pics and details.

    Best,
    Matt

Nice! I dig it. Im the iMAT author and I am glad this is a viable option for you. I look forward to seeing your pics. I hoped the proximity of the iMAT to the MABDR would allow for cross exploration.

An adv rider secret, the route will be expanding next year. I hope to finish up an adventure route here in western WV then im headed back to the eastern part of the state to add on, likely to the bottom, of the iMAT/iMAR system. PM me any time with questions.

I had to postpone the trip until this fall :(. Some pandemic going around that messed up my work/life schedule.

The leg around dolly sods is gated im not sure when the close the gates, im sure its after much of the hunting season is over so November ? December ? Then its closed thru sometime in march or april i think. Also the forrest service road going into cass, i THINK the gate is closed on a similar schedule. I will say of snow is on the route is really tough. I rode some of it in mid march and the snow was still on ans it was quite the challenge.
