The same kind of things happen on every ride we take. Sometimes it's a fallen tree needs to be cut or rocks need to be moved, or even a reroute. That's the adventure part of the ride.

    Joe,
Yes, I believe their are two dirt routes over the lasalles. I took the easier one. Perhaps that is lasalle pass? I do not recall. One is much more difficult than the other.

Congrats on finishing. This was definitely an epic TAT ride with all the challengers and all the different riders! Well done!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed your report @DragonJoe, has been a pleasure following along as you trekked across the US. I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the beach 40 days after leaving the east coast, good on you for enduring the challenges and creating memories for life.

Your previous post mentioned sipping coffee by a small fire with the scent of campfire smoke and pine mixed together...such a simple statement and yet so powerful - there's nothing like it for me.

Hope your future travels are fun, safe, and full of adventure. Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your journey :-)

My point is that Sam is paying attention to the product he is providing and updating accordingly. Kevin is not. I know he has been advised of major reroute necessities but never makes the changes.

That’s where the “Adventure” comes in.

The “ adventure” of an irate rancher telling you to get the hell-off his property I can do without.

I've had that happen to me riding around a forest near me. I was going down a road marked on my map as a county road. A guy stopped us and was pretty irate. Turns out he had purchased and closed the road. The gate was open, as happens on forest service roads sometimes, so I went down it. After showing him the map and telling him someone had left the gate open, he calmed down. Hunters and 4 wheelers have come on to his property and messed things up.

I agree with you 100% on crossing someone's property. I rode the tat 2017 and came to a closed Forest service gate in Va. I made a big detour around to come back to the tat.

Awesome adventure. Looking back how would you rate the DR650 for this journey?

Very pleased. Suspension up grades #1, carb and exhaust #2. Did fine at 12000 ft.altitude. Tractors along like a diesel. Better than its rider. I will be riding it in the west this year.
    Glad you enjoyed the rr.

Late to this ride report but enjoyed it immensely. Funny how small the DS/ADV world is. When you posted that pic of Michael and his red Africa Twin, I knew exactly who that is as I have ridden with him in some groups several times and remember asking him this winter on a ride about his TAT trip last summer. Looks like you all had a great time!
