    I’ve now wrapped up an amazing 4 month tour of the Philippines...
    After riding up and down the coast one of Samar a couple of times, I rode on to Leyte to catch the ferry to Surigao, Mindanao.
    From Surigao down the Northeast coast of Mindanao to the Lanuza spots. Not much swell around those parts so I headed back up to catch a ferry back to Siargao and spent the last few weeks riding, surfing and enjoying the scene on that amazing island.

    In Pintuyan, Leyte we swam amongst whale sharks

    One just circled continuously and we spent a good half an hour hanging out

    In Samar I hung out with Oli, a Canadian surfer and fellow biker. He was on a similar route from Siargao up the Pacific coast exploring islands and surf spots on his custom scrambler. We shared some very cool waves, rides bonfires, and laughs... Oli kills it in the waves. He basically thrashed the waves so hard and far that he wrecked his second board onto the reef hahaha... really cool guy

    Here we are on a small ferry with our bikes and boards in the north of Samar

    I spent my final 3 weeks back in Siargao.
    I had some great surf sessions and met some very cool people. Between the north (Pacifico, Burgos) and General Luna. We took boats and explored some breaks off shore.

    The XR did its job so well. Siargao is perfect for a bike like that!

    I just had an issue with a short in the electrics that was causing the bike to intermittently cut out.
    The local mechanic pulled all the wiring out and checked one by one, quite a tedious job. The harness is getting old and wiring ends up accumulating moisture or rubbing out the insulation.
    Here we are dismounting the tank, and front plastics. This bike needed some TLC!

    There were some cool bikes around the shop

    From siargao I flew to Manila and on to Hong Kong. I took 3 days there to meet a friend and check out the city. It did not disappoint!
    Like a NYC in Asia...
    The ethnic and cultural mix is inspiring and the food offering is amazing. I went nuts on the dim sum...

    From Hong Kong I flew back to Madrid via Dubai.
    That now has wrapped up this leg of travels and adventures.

    10 months, 5 bikes (not counting the rental scooters), 18 countries, thousands of kms ridden, others on buses, ferries, trains, and aeroplanes. I even flew in an ultralight.
    Countless moments of joy when riding on unknown trails, some scary moments that worked out Ok in the end, hundreds of amazing secluded spots, some of the best waves of my life, and definitely some of the most memorable people I have met, and like to now refer to as family and friends...
    Lots of experience and lessons learnt. The biggest one is live life to your fullest, it will continuously surprise you if you put yourself out there and are open to it...

    The XR and my board stays in Siargao at a friends who will enjoy it, and as I plan to come back maybe next year in the summer-fall swell season. Philippines has left a mark and might well be a regular destination for me.

    This is the entire sketch of the tour:
    RED = moto riding
    BLACK = plane
    YELLOW = ferry
    GREEN = bus or train

    My next adventure is coming up shortly.
    I’ll post a link here to a new thread that I’ll create in about a months time. This is going to be focussed on long distance dirt riding.

    Here’s just the a glimpse of the wheels I’ve procured for the ride

    See you soon for a new adventure and thanks for the support !
