Wow, I’ve not looked at ADVrider for years and then I get what I think is a random email thread update reminder. And it’s the WANS! “Make WANs RR your favorite!” I’ve visited DV before but never like this. Maybe someday soon. Great to see your smiling faces (and all that Matt hair!)

    Hi Randall! :wave

I know, it's been forever! Wow. Happy 2021!
How are things? I thought of you when I recently read that there are only 2 white rhinos left now. :cry
I think at the time we discussed it (after Angalifu died), there were 5 white rhinos alive.
Hope things are okay at the zoo...it can't be easy with all the shut downs.

On a happier note, did you ever get your Africa Twin? :ear
(Although, probably not if you haven't looked at ADV in years...)

Well, at any rate - thanks for checking in!
It's fun to see who shows up here :)

Well, I'm no longer moto less anymore. This popped up ten minutes from my house, so clearly I had to get it. I partially blame you and your awesome ride reports!!

    Woo! Congratulations! :clap
I didn't realize you had been moto less.

I'm envious - I'm too short for KTM. Looks like my only hope of riding a KTM is one of these:

I hope you enjoy your new ride!
You'll have to do some Colorado ride reports for us now.

Well, I'm kinda too short for this 640. I can get almost the balls of both feet down when I'm in my moto boots. I need Renazco to make me a low seat and I need to put more sag into the rear suspension. Even then I won't be able to flat foot both feet, this thing is a camel! I could use a few more inches of inseam...

I sold my last bike (1190R) because my wife went back to work full time and I wasn't sure how much time I was going to have to ride. The 1190 was depreciating quickly and it also wasn't quite the right bike for me. It's an awesome street bike but way too heavy for me to handle off road here.

I hope to get some rides in this summer on the 640, probably not long enough to do a proper ride report tho, still have an issue of free time unfortunately

That used to be my favorite dual sport until I had an evening to test ride one. It was the first model with the low Supertrapp exhaust. Loved everything about it but vibration. Even blew a tail light bulb on my ride and was pulled over by the police because of it. I think I was 19 years old at the time.

It was painful to get anywhere with it though.

At any rate, hope it serves you well.

This is actually my second 640 Adv, so I'm aware of the vibrations. They're not too bad but a long slog on the super slab isn't this bikes forte. I rode my old one from Denver to Taos and that was more than enough distance to do in a day on the highway

Well, I’m no longer at the Zoo. We moved overseas to volunteer and then COVID came crashing down. So back in the USA but looking for work. No AT, probably looking for a wr250r x2 (one for the wife too) when we can sort it out. Great to see you both!
Yes, sad about the state of white rhinos. And now the gorillas have COVID. :baldy
