Made it home in 3.5 hours.

That was one great weekend.

Thanks to everyone, especially to BenJava for starting the thread, and pleasure meeting many of you guys.

I will wait for BJ do the "Ride Report" so I can post my pics.

It was one helluva of ride, more dirt, rocks, mud, and sand than I wanted. The little patches of snow wasn't too bad.

Hope everyone made it home safely.

Thanks Dave for the firewood and John for picking them up. Without them, bedtime will be early as well as there won't be sharing of b.s. and tall stories.

Espi, nice meeting ya.

Looks like a missed a good ride the Saturday. I ended up leaving via Crankcase junction, but I may have gone through before you all. Not my day: the 4x4 had a flat too.

Thanks for the gas. That tank of yours of yours is sure a nice farkle.

See you at the next ride,
Duitswes

Sorry to hear about all your flats! We missed you on Saturday's ride.Your DRZ would have rocked in the soft sand. Yes, we will see you in the upcoming rides. Your welcome for the gas!

Take care,

If the Indians have the stick to find the water source, I have a similar one as well. Yeah, my other "device" is pointing out to the right direction that we have to take. I normally rely on that, to hell with maps and gps!

Am I right ?, we ended up turning around and follow my directions! :lol3

Full moon madness ride report

This by far has been the best trip yet that I have taken on a bike.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Well with the bikes all loaded up and ready for departure we headed out to Black Canyon or mountains or whatever to start the dirt stretch or the ride up.

This was the total route we took over the three days there and back.

With the big loop on Saturday.

While at black canyon saw some petroglyphs on the rocks.

The ride out was fast and clear

Resulting in good spirits all around.

Some places were fenced off and didn’t want visitors

Then we came across this place that used to be a water stop for the old mule teams. You can tell they drove through here…see even left behind a steering wheel for practice between mule runs.

Here we see the proper head check before changing lanes while driving..

There was the cattle scale still there but could not get a reading on 914’s weight..scale was busted.

Had lunch at this little place on the side of the road.
Sat down to take in the sights.

After lunch got back on the road in search of more dirt on the way to Panamint.
Expecting to see more of the desert bloom all I saw was this purple cactus.

Can you spot it in this picture?

how bout now
[IMG]

Once at camp and all set up
[IMG]

We set out to find <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Darwin falls.

Along the way while hiking heard the sound of running water.
This must be it! Nope just a busted pipe.

Along the trail saw some neat rock formations like the easter island one below.
Notice the water worn rocks.
Finally made it too the falls.
And saw some desert flowers
[IMG]

Next morning the 5 of us head out and stop to take in the first vista overlooking the valley on our way out.

Road up was fast and clear.
With the occasional creek crossing (well really only two that mattered)

So we headed out to the salt lake on the way to the hot springs.

Mmmmmmmmmm salty
[IMG]
Look a salty dog
[IMG]

Finally making it to the hot springs we take in the sights.

From there we head out over steel pass to EUREKA Dunes.

and this pic was of the dunes from several miles away, yea they pretty big and the sand is very soft. It made falling down a snap.

Finally getting to Big Pine we stop for lunch.
The players.
Rider914, Design4D, Sito and Bob

Sito and I decide to take pavement back when we get to KEELER.

Couple last parting shots before getting back to camp.

Hey gang! I had a fantastic time at DV! The riding was flat out bitchin and the people were super cool. Thanks to John for letting us use your BBQ, and thanks Joel for the snacks. I'm looking forward to the next trip...Big Bear Bash.
