Born and raised in San Rafael. Was riding that area in ‘65 on my Triumph TT Special. China Camp was our off-road area. A distant cousin sold much of his ranch land to Geo Lucas. Thursday night drags out of Woodacre. My grandmother’s house still stands on D street. I ride to visit yearly
    Thanks for pics

Today if they caught you riding off road in Marin you would get sentenced to life in prison......funny hearing older locals telling me about riding dirt bikes up on Mt. Tamalpias......

At a China Camp hare and hound event one year (mid 60’s) there were 3 AMA national number pro riders entered. I rode with Bill “Biscuits” Verbiscio, Mark Brelsford, Dick Mann. Biscuits and Shirley owned Cycle Town in San Rafael and was riding a 441 Victor, Mark Brelsford I forget, Dick Mann was riding a Greeves Challenger. I was riding a Triumph TR6 Trophy
    still riding today of course

My dad had a BSA 441 Victor, I for a brief time had my uncles 250 Challenger (I was pretty young at the time and could barely get a foot to the ground to hold bike up). Loved Greeves, 1968 380 Griffon is my dream bike.

Growing up in the East Bay, rode that area quite often. Used to ride the Sunday Morning Ride on occasion. Now that I moved eastward riding the Sierra foothills more. Thanks for bringing back the memories and reminder, I still need to ride this area on occasion.

Thanks for the photos! And thanks for the reminder! I've been missing those roads. I'll have to get up there sometime this month.
