Okay jatz and rog, meet at 3 brothers at 830?
Official plan at this stage is to assemble around 8 , so aiming to leave St Arnaud around 10.
Does that work for you guys?
Have a great ride
Yes, Sounds good.
We'll leave 3 brothers and meet you at the St Aunard Petrol station by 10am.
Works for me. Rog and James we will need to leave at 830 from three brothers, or see you at st arnaud.
A question for the locals, if I may...
There looks to be a track between Penzance Bay in Tennyson Inlet, over the hill with the power line to Elaine Bay. If anyone is familiar, is it open and would you get a fat 1090 over it?
Yes there is a track and I've been over it a couple of times. It's steep and can be very slippery clay going down to Penzance. It's in perminate shade and almost always wet.
Last time I went over there was a gate at the end by the road at Penzance. I managed to get around but you may not on a bigger bike.
So, No I don't think you wound get a 1090 over there but post some photos if you try.
What rog said, very slippery. This track beat me. Had to launch my klr at a slippery part in desperation just to get out. Wasn't pretty and caused damage to me and the bike, but I made it home. 1090? Good luck.
Righto, Miles and myself will see you at 3Bros.
Think I'd best sit this one out. I may come as far as St Arnaud, but doing the full loop would just end being an uncomfortable chore.
Thanks very much Rog. .
Made it home, great ride, how's the knee?
Good to hear you got home alright.
The knee is sore, and on ice. Turns out that Big Katie had a flatty on the rear, which caused me to loose the rear end.
Another thing to fix, sigh!
Anyway, I need moar alcohol!
Cheers lads, great day out! Miles reckons it's the best single day he's had on the bike, and by far the longest.
Whaddya reckon that car on Gentle Annie got blown off the road??
ETA: Actually our day 2 summers ago starting from Danseys Pass and doing the Old Dunstan Trail from Alexandra to the Pig Route was probably longer, and better!
Thanks. Good days ride.
Without significant rain soon, Molesworth/Acheron will be closed to vehicles from Feb 10th if that affects anyones plans.
Some fire danger index thing has been triggered.
Having just been through there, it's pretty dry...
Bugger...was heading down to do that later this month. @wairau Thanks for the heads up as i wouldn't have thought to check.
Ill keep an eye on the site now.
We need to start a givealittle page to build a bloody great pipe from Fiordland to the top of the south...
