Unfortunately I can't go on this trip, or any other fun trips at the moment. :cry I know it will be difficult since you don't have a delightful DR to ride, but could you try to have a good time in my honor as well? Do something "wild" that would put a smile on my face!

I'm still hoping to be able to ride and camp on the Denali highway and/or visit the Geezer in Slana before mid September. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'll slide the hp2 into a gravel corner and light it up on the way out in your honor, Duchess. If you notice that DR shiver over the weekend just give it a squeeze... it knows what's going on and it's skeered.

    I will be too. :lol3

Just got back from McCarthey a couple hours ago! The ride there was wet.

We got went to the pizza bus in Kennicott just after they closed, but the extremely nice people there gave a left over pizza.

We woke up to blue skies.

I came across Ndanger in a little situation in the Kenny Lake area.

The ride home was mostly sunshine... at least until I got back to the Valley. :cry

Saturday morning here in Glennallen the sun was shining brightly on the Wrangells, with fog down in the Copper River valley -
    [IMG]

But about a mile past the Gulkana airstrip dense fog covered the highway, extending down into Gakona where Hobo's house is located. Nevertheless, riders were finishing breakfast and soon getting ready to travel. Activity abounded -
    [IMG]

Fifteen minutes later, activity still abounded -
    [IMG]

Half an hour after beginning, activity was still in evidence -
    [IMG]

Finally on the road, gassed and headed south toward the Edgerton Hwy, the first problem arises. This photo begs the question "How many BMW owners does it take to defeat the sidestand safety switch" :lol3 -
    [IMG]
The question did arise as to whether HayDee had been seen in the vicinity of Legion's HP2. :uhoh

The view of Mt Drum from the Klutina River was exceptionally clear -
    [IMG]

With Mt Blackburn over Willow Lake almost as good -
    [IMG]

Just past Kenny Lake the Golden Spruce's offering of refreshments was too inviting for the riders to pass up -
    [IMG]

Plentiful rain and occasional sunshine have added up to a good season for decorative posies -
    [IMG]

Beginning the climb from Lower Tonsina, following the former wagon trail to Chitina -
    [IMG]

An overlook that has offered a panoramic view of the Wrangell Mts for decades still draws admirers -
    [IMG]

Mike, putting his photographic equipment and talent to good use -
    [IMG]

Two of the riders filing past Three Mile Lake, the top of Mt Wrangell visible through the cut -
    [IMG]

Through Chitina and down on the Copper River, subsistence fishermen are busily harvesting the last of the red salmon run -
    [IMG]

Hobo is the first across the Copper River...

    ...followed closely by Legion...

...and then the rest of the group -
    [IMG]

The rest of the pack waits patiently on the west side of the Kuskalana River bridge for this fuel truck, which obviously has the right-of-weight -
    [IMG]

The bridge, still supporting heavy loads, just a few months shy of its hundredth birthday -
    [IMG]

And now the riders come across, destination McCarthy and Kennicott -
    [IMG]

This rider, having things to get done back in Glennallen, turned around after bidding safe travels to the intrepid travelers. Looking skyward, clouds were seen to be streaming in intriguing patterns, driven by high altitude winds that would have an effect upon weather down here on the ground in a few hours -
    [IMG]

Something was having a favorable effect, as the temperature had risen to 76°F in Chitina, 78° at Lower Tonsina, and a blistering 82° in Glennallen. Sure enjoyed it while it lasted. :jkam
