oh man I yearn for a bmw single
The BMW’s are a 1961 R50/2 and 2 1966 R27’s.
I'd wager the guys who designed those BMW singles were very, very interesting people.
I can check on some if you want...I know a guy....has a few of them.
pm me if you want me to check them out...he does travel and not sure where he is right now. Might take a few days.
Nah, it’s a pipe dream.
maybe one day.
Some more parts today. Really nice quality seat cover from Thailand.
And a NOS top tree.
Started repairing the original but the handlebar mount bushings are bad and NLA. Then I found the NOS part.
Wheel bearings made it so I got the wheels built.
Zinc should be done Monday I’m hoping, wasn’t done today which isn’t their typical.
Yeah they were super fast last time for sure. No worries, tons to do until then.
Will be fun to get the hardware back and start bolting some stuff together.
The GS1000 gas tank made it to Anchorage. Might see it yet today. Or Monday.
sometimes they’re slow to call back when done, and I was slammed all week with work and some family crap (adjacent death). But when I called today, they weren’t done so I’m like PHEW, wasn’t me that dropped the ball
We got all winter. Heck, it's only early October and this thing's moving along pretty good.
At this rate I won't be able to put the paint off much longer.
You better have something else lined up or the unwashed masses will revolt.
Bloody hell we are good at spending Steve's money
What are friends for? Drinking your beer and spending your money!!!
Love the progress Steve, the wheel building is a favourite of mine, so nice when they spin straight and true like in your video.
There was a local 2-stroke gathering / show today.
The bonus shot is for the one that got away...
Oh Yea, a different take:
My buddy Julian was at that show with his project bike.
was that the 2 stroke extravaganza?
Second Sunday of the month means “vintage bike OC” day
so I mozy over to have lunch with some friends and talk shit, look at bikes.
a buddy “dick” had 2 other guys bring over his seeley matchless….. one of 6 produced. Dick has a very very impressive bike collection. The fellas invited me over for pizza and beers and to talk more shit, but I’ve been busy and need to chill before work, so I went home.
