Planning on doing a day ride over Medano Pass and back on Sun Oct 23. I'll be leaving Co Springs early in the AM. Breakfast in Florence Co. Out to Medano via Westcliff and back. Sand conditions should be great given the recent precip. I'll be riding a 1150GS
What bike you gonna ride? What time you planning on leaving in am? Dustin ps never was able to find the rubber mounts used on your KLX. Could you point me in the right direction? Dustin
Just messing w/ ya Dustin. I'm flexible, Since I'm the only one going so far. I can adjust to whatever time is convenient for you, especially since you are comming from further north. The plan was to leave fairly early (7am) and head south. Stop for some grub in Florence and then head on to Medano. I can link up w/ you In the Springs or in Florence, which ever is easiest for ya. I'll PM you my cell phone # so we can better coordinate. By the way I'll be riding the Yellow Pig (R1150GS), but you are welcome to bring either bike (KLR or GS). Whatever you feel more comfortable with. Later Dan
Well, we never made it out of town. One by one we all got sick this last week. Marcia is sick now. Oh well, you guys have fun I'll be doing something with the boys most likely. The big beaver pond water crossing is gone now making it a little easier for land lubbers. I hope the sand is dry as a bone though !! SG
Something is going around. I was sick too this past week. I'll make sure I get good pics of the really dry sand so that this time I can call you on the $100! Later Dan
I wish I could ride again today. I just used up my Designated day and can't go on your big bike ride. I hope You Folks get un-sick as The snow is invading. This saturday (22nd) I was thwarted in my attempt to cross Webster pass by only 100 yards! Impossible! how can the mountains laugh at my great attempt? I and 2 of my studly GS bretheren rode a few miles of Rampart's BIG SMOOTH BERMED singletrack and that was a hoot on big bikes. The soil conditions were great and the Gravely climbs were nice dynos. So were the twisties of pavement in-between Rampart and Webster also fun. P.S. I have witnessed the magic of the HP-2! Have you yet? Ted
Got up this morning to go on my solo medano ride and the weather was looking a bit sad. Double checked the wx report and it still said partly cloudy, turning to sunny. So I geared up and headed out in the drizzle. Halfway to Florence CO it turns to freezing rain and the clouds have hit the deck. So now I'm riding in fog and freeing rain?!?!?!? Partly cloudy my ass! By now I'm soaked and chilled so I decide to cut my losses and enjoy a lazy sunday morning w/ a hot cup of joe by the computer. Till next time!
