Fearless, there is still plenty of riding going on.
I know there are at least two of us that don't look at this thread for rides though.
Mainly due to the internet abuse received afterwards.
Was all good until we were called yobos and dickheads.
Guess some people don't like being passed.
So don't loose faith.
Will give you a yell next time we head out.
Sold the fen thing brought the 500 back yumey
You are full of it
Hahaha ! I thought it was out of character for you. Ah well, you tried.
Thanks Mate, I'm not sure we have met before but I would be up for a ride and it's a shame there isn't much happening on here.
I met one of my best mates via this thread where art thou fnatic ? Haha !
I have a couple of weeks off so let me know. I have some other mates who would be keen as well
And I too have been "told off" on rides for "roosting" and passing at speed. I think we will get along just fine.
Holly Crappola, did you guys stop riding or just stop talking about it?
I’m coming over to explore the East/Nth East side of Melbourne and would prefer to ride with you guys rather than risk running into you(You sound far too reckless for that).
I’m not on FB because life’s too short already and I plan on being the last man standing who is not.
I live in Geelong but have a GF in Eltham and are planning on some weekday rides if anyone works weekends.
My daily ride for many years and still is a 950 supertanker but I have a 500 exc on the way.
Would love to meet any like minded b*stards to blast with.
You make a fair point, Crash. This discussion has been gradually abandoned in favour of the groups on Facebook. Terrible, I know, but it just seems to be a more user friendly platform to organise rides (I guess that’s why users have migrated there).
For those who, like yourself, refuse to slavishly join the sheep, there’s not many alternatives. “One of us, one of us...” I’d say, but you sound too strong of mind to cave in. Maybe someone who is active in the FB groups and also here will put their hand up to act as an intermediary for you, or revive this discussion. I’m not riding much at the moment thanks to work commitments and three young kids, so I’m no use.
Don't bother posting rides here any more due to lack of interest but I do now there are private rides going on . And yes FC book is where I but rides on great bunch of blokes Vic adv riders is where it's at not much haping at the moment due to the weather as most of us are old but come the warmer weather
Thx Wrya1. Thx for taking the time.
I guess if nobody makes contact I’ll bump into a few out there. Because of my previous employment I’m pretty used to solo remote travel and carry sat phone (which has previously saved my life) for same.
All my childhood mates gave up riding light bushbashers after I had a particularly nasty head on in the Otways( our home stomping ground) in 2002.
A couple are bike hunting now but still live on the Westside of the big smoke.
Anyhoo, thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time.
Hey Craig, I’m getting old too but with age comes wisdom and after realising that we don’t get another go at it. It’s time to get up it like a rat up a drainpipe.
I will privately send you my contact number and if you would be kind enough to keep me in the loop , I swear not to sook if you hose me in the scrub.
I’m happy not to be the lead guy anyway, after eight operations and many months in hospital, I’m over being the first at the scene of the accident.
Woke up early and decided since the weather was so good id jump on the GS and go get a much needed hair cut, the weather app pic gave me some ideas
On the way id decided a detour for breakfast was in order
Before i knew it id found a boat
No barber on the boat either so i had to keep going
More beaches and search continued
Finally if a GS rider went to heaven and their was a barber there it would be this one, that cuts hair and serves coffee
With a view
The search to find one was well worth it, Portarlington was a good find
You could have dropped in on my brother in law, Paul
Its certainly a nice area down and around the coast
Great day for a ride yesterday, 120k loop to the pub at Erica for lunch. Found some monster hills. Today, I'm buggered
Great day for a ride today. Nice to be having some cooler weather for a change.
Decided to head off this morning and explore Kurth Kiln and Binyip for the first time. Entered Kurth at Boundary Rd and headed down Shepherds Creek Rd, a nice flowing track beside the creek. Followed Soldiers Rd through to Hunter’s Track. Hunter’s was a blast, lots of tight corners for a dirt rd, will definetly return to do it again. This popped me out at one end of Bunyip State forest:
Took Blue Range Rd followed by Bunyip Ridge Track. Was a bit greasy from yesterday’s rain, the road tires on the Terra don’t like wet clay much!
Few steep sections towards the end of Bunyip Ridge. Thankfully the uphills were mostly dry so had no trouble getting up.
The plan was to head up Gentle Annie and across to Powelltown. Decided to pull the pin on that though and wait till it was drier or I’ve fitted knobbies. Pointed the GPS to take the shortest route home to Healesville. It took me down Bunyip River Rd under the powerlines. Nice open gravel road that the Terra are up at 80-90km/h.
Took Black Snake Creek rd back to the bitumen at Launching Place-Gembrook Rd and made it home for lunch. I’ve mostly be riding around Toolangi/Black Range area since getting the Terra, was nice to mix it up. Will definitely be exploring more of Bunyip.
Back up in the hills yesterday, 6 degrees felt like less with rain and wind chill.
And I forgot my jacket... 2 layers of merino thermals didn't really work.
But anyway... ride we did.
Agree with @simmy weather was perfect for a ride on Sunday ,did the usual Kinglake --Tallangi --Buxton for a burger atleasd a dozen black wallabies crossed paths over the ride just to keep you concentrating.
