Does anyone still check this for rides or has it died off ?
Don't really see much come up though.
I guess people are staying within their riding group of known riders (skill levels, bike type, prep). Depending on the ride planned it can be bit of a mystery bag of who comes if you advertise.
This Thursday morning, I'm heading off from Mornington on the F800 Adv to go to Bendoc. Will be loaded with camping gear etc for the stop at Monarchs at Talbotville on the return leg, so I expect I'll just follow back roads to get to Bendoc (actually, will stay at the pub at Delegate, get a feed there Thursday night etc). Normally Id do Dargo to Omeo via Jones/Birregun etc, but it will be either closed, or at least partially covered in snow, so bugger that. Probably back road from Buchan to Orbost, then the Bonang Hwy north.
Seeing clients first thing Friday am, should be done by 10am, then wind back to Dargo for Dinner, then Talbotville. Could actually head back via Tubbut and across McKillops, then down the lower part of the Barry Way to Buchan on the way. Good country.
Home via roads (due to track closures again) Sunday
Anyone want to come along for a cruisy ride, you're welcome to join, message or text / whatever, 0425 827 227
I'll keep an eye on the thread if it stays active. Although I think most rides are being privately organised or via bookface. For reference I ride a ktm 1090r, crf450x and crf250x
Your welcome to tag along with us on the way home sunday
A few gravel roads instead of the tar
Thanks mate, will chat over the weekend.
Seems to still be some interest then which is good. I met some good people from rides organised on here and I'd like to do some more.
Facebook it ok but tends to include the same folk depending on the forum you are listening too.
Would anyone be keen for a day ride from Kinglake at some point ? I don't have time for over nighters often due to family and work but days are fine. We could even go out through Mt Robertson and down long gully just for a fun start, then maybe Murrindindi to MArysville, big river road etc.
Yes mate, very keen. What about the weekend of 21/22 September? I’m on a 701 so prefer drier conditions - it’s a bit of a handful in the wet :)
Also want to organise a day ride out Anglesea way - never explored that area.
Yup, I could be keen on that. Above dates also suit
Yeah I think that could work. Anglesea is an area that I'd like to explore more as well but it is a full day. There is sand there too.
What would be the preference ?
I’m interested Mr Whetu!
Happy either way - it was your suggestion so I’ll go with what suits your timeframes/preferences.
Yo, pretty much dead for the last few years.
Got to agree with many of the newbs here, too....if it ain't orange and cracks a few a bones + mirrors on a ride, it's piss-weak and gay, right?
No interest then, yawn....
Yes glitch there can be that element.
Geez, cynical much?
So we are riding this Saturday if anyone is keen. Meeting at the Kinglake servo around eight and we will head out via Mt Robertson/long gully and back into Toolangi where we will check out some tracks I haven't seen so far and then on to Marysville for lunch. Should be a fun day. If anyone has a better idea for a route I'm happy to combine ideas.
Forecast is a bit wet and muddy but we will go regardless of weather.
If anyone has an enduro mount, I'll be heading up to Tanjil Bren next weekend, between 70- 120 kms of tracks, including lots of singles. Good stuff, a good workout.
Richo I would have been keen on that but will be riding Anglesea. Where is Tanjil Bren ?
We had a good ride yesterday despite the rain, I'll post up here next time we go if anyone is keen.
I ran some new tyres I hadn't tried before - Shinko 805s and they will be my new go to's. Really good grip on road (wet and dry) excellent on the gravel and dirt but very average in mud (what isn't on a 200 kilo bike) And they are cheap.
Apparently made by Yokohama.
Take care Y'all :)
Which day ? I have an enduro mount , 38 years old though , wouldn`t mind giving it a run .
Whetu and Brute, I'm riding Friday. Heading up Thursday night, generally we are on they bikes about 9 am, done by 1 ish. Dave who I ride with is 62, that's about his limit, but he rides a good pace.
Tanjil is half way between Noojee and Mt Baw Baw
