Popped past Chappies in Wandin on the way back on Monday.
That time of year for the regular fruit-runs across Mt. D pretty soon...might see you there.

Hi Glitch_Oz, Neonasty and all other Melburnians...

Late September I managed to get my dream bike - a 2001 BMW R1150GS - after a few years wheel less and am keen to discover Melbourne and the surrounds.

So I'm glad this post is alive again

    Hooo, yeah!
I went for a bitumen blat yesterday (Monday) morning out thro Jindivick, past Fumina, to Noojee and back thro Powelly. I'd planned it as a midnight ride Sunday night, but my Disgracefully Aged mates talked me out of that.

But what really surprised me on the ride was that while there was quite a few other road bikes (but not huge numbers) there must have been huge numbers of dirt bikes out on the trails - every carpark had a bunch of vehicles with bike trailers, two or three in nearly every servo we went past and a few driving past every bakery we stopped at!

    Cheers
    Brian

Yeah, sadly this thread seems to pop up every couple of years for a day or 2.... before immediately dying in the a%se again.

LOTS of nice, scenic and interesting stuff around.
Used to run a series of "checkin' the 'hood" rides in years past.
It's amazing what's about within ~50km radius of the Outer Eastern 'burbs....

+1: otherwise all those pesky Old Weshmen to the North, and the supporters of the Queen will be trying to get into the Victorian era. Or area.

A mate and I did a loop of the East. Gembrook - Black Spur - Eildon - Jamieson - Woods point - Mt Bawbaw - Home.
About 500kms, and a lot of fun. The supermoto tyres aren't great on the loose gravel and highway pressures didn't help on the corrigations.

I've got heavier springs on their way if Auspost can get their shit together. I'll fit them, and the 19/17 set of wheels and redo the loop.

Was the Woods Point Pub open? Read the other day that Kevington is closed for good at this stage.

Woods point pub was open, but we didn't go. Kevington was closed with a large sign on the roof saying permanently closed

    A bloody shame.
Have been going there and the Woods Point and in the early days the Gaffney's Creek (before the fire) on and off for almost 40 years.
Makes it a long dry stretch from Jamo to the Point now.

Out for a great hard Enduro ride on the 450exc yesterday... after 5 months off it, a touch sore today..
Six of us, One flat, a few minor offs. Lots of single track flicking between ( and often into) the trees.
Glad the bark busters did their thing, the coordination is a bit off.

I did an overnight trip with some guys from work to Big River. A bunch of fun was had by all. I was on the little WR, easily the least powerful bike there. Only once was I wishing for a bit more power, the 15 year old bike keeps surprising. It's easy for a gumby like me to ride, light enough to drop, and after three 3 hour loops I still didn't have to refuel with the 15L tank. win!

In saying that... I rode a yz250 two stroke and couldn't wipe the smile off my face so I can also see one of those in my future. I'll have to develop some skills before I upgrade though. 20201116_155904.jpg

Heading out next Wednesday 25th for a road and dirt loop north east of Melb.
F800 and 790, wont be anything ridiculous, but my mate is coming down from Alex direction and we'll meet somewhere in the middle and loop around.
Anyone free and wanting to get out, let me know.
