Haha. I'm trying to do it legally. I wanted to take the YZ, but it's not ADR approved so was trying to do it on Rec reg. I might hold onto the little WR for a bit and get it on full reg for a year or so. I'm spoiled for choice at the moment
I've been looking at one of those for a while... Never ridden one.... How do they compare to a KTM/FE 300 2 stroke? Thats all I have for comparison....
I've only spent 5 minutes on an old ktm300, so I can't really compare. Its kick start only, and 5 speed over 6. That's about all the guidance I can give you
@Brute @bigborett And myself went for a loop today, just a gentle ride up doubt Gembrook state forest. I used to ride that area and across to gentle Annie and further east 30 years ago. Pretty disappointing, everything is locked up or dozed shut. No track access anywhere. Rain started pelting, so we headed south across the highway down through Bunyip then across the drain roads to Koo Wee Rup for a Parma. Brute made a new friend, which was nice. Zig zagged around a few dirt back roads on the peninsula near home , then went and found this. Wanted to have a look for a dozen years. Tick it off the list. Got home, sun was shining of course. So as i still had the riding gear on, rolled the SE out and took that for a run. Braaap. Motarding is fun.
Yes. Very locked up around there these days. The main park has been locked for what seems like an age since the fires ripped through there a couple of years ago, some sort of political joke. When it does open up again i doubt it will be worth taking a bike through there, everything decent will be no more. Those drain roads were good for a little SE v 790 drag race. All good fun. Was hard to find matching shoes in my size.
Oh yeah everything in Bunyip is still closed from the fires a few years ago. If you head North towards Three Bridges there is some 4x4 tracks open and the further east you go, the more that is open.
Hmmm No Thanks, Brute does have a natural flare for attracting new friends tho. He found a nice girl friend along the way when we did the Simpson. She was a stunner, no teeth and had not washed for 15.3 years and wore a really cool hat. And as he entered the magic pyramid he fell under her charms, and they began chanting........ and dancing......... it was a beautiful moment
Dakar has motivated to get out and ride (along with reading all the great articles from the ADVrider mag that dropped into the letterbox). Sunday 24th I’m planning a solid day ride into the high country and back. I wouldn’t mind giving Wonnangatta valley a crack - all the way through in a day. Possibly bit ambitious. Otherwise up around the southern side of Mt Buffalo, twin Jeep, etc. I’ll be on the 701. Will be an early start. Let me know if you’re interested.
She was such a lovely girl . If only I could have taken her home for a wash , gave her a tooth brush and got the knots out of her hair . As for the physco last week , if I ever see him again I`ll be running in the opposite direction .
