    I don't think so.

And joy of joys, my wife's car is having problems. Unless someone wants to come pick me up, I most likely will only be able to make it up on Saturday. This just sucks.

He made it to 4400'. I heard it was something like 3.5 hours climbing, 30 minutes back to camp.

What a fantastic weekend. Huge thanks to the organizers (mootsuno and K.L. Rocket?) for putting this on. I can't wait for next year.

Wow, what an awesome introduction to the AVDRider community. Thanks for being such great hosts and putting together a very well organized and low key event. Lots of good riding, lots of cool new people, lots of excellent beer!

My wife, Stephanie, and I had a great time and are looking forward to next year.

Thank you all for an awesome rally! (esp. Dean, Janet, & Co.)

Great times with old and new friends. Not to mention some really fun moto riding.

Rocked as it did last year. If you'll have me, I'll be back- and as with others, hopefully for longer...

Amazingly nice folks, exceptional food, and of course riding second to none.

Thanks to Dean (mootsuno), Jan (SanGJan) and a host of others for a great weekend. The food was outstanding and the company was awesome.

There was beer, shooting and riding (not necessarily in that order!). I don't have any photos 'cos I was either too busy with a beer in my hand, shooting or out riding.

Loading up was a challenge with my f**ked up leg, but that'll teach me not to crash! It'll get better and I plan on being back next year again.

Thanks Dean, Janet and all the rest who helped put together such an awesome event. Great people, riding and food. What more could you ask for? You sure know how to make a noob feel welcome! Dean, I hope the hamstring heals up fast!

Excellent event as usual crew. Just when you think the food can't get any better...it does. I couldn't stop eating the pork and beans. I should have but I couldn't.

Focallength thanks again for keeping my bike off "Us". Repairs turned out to be minor and no injuries to report.

My ride home was uneventful aside form only needing 15 miles of freeway to link Pillsbury and San Leandro...the backroads were traffic free.

Okay. Here's what I shared with our local group.

Steph and I both left work a little bit early. I got home first and loaded us up. We hopped on 50 at about 4:45 and immediately started splitting lanes. We wanted to get to camp before it was dark, so we took I5 all the way up to Williams which is where we caught SR20. Steph was pretty miserable for this part of the trip as it's no fun going 75 on the DRZ. It buzzes pretty bad. But, she's a trooper and we made good time. 20 jogs south, so we lost a little time there, but going in further north we didn't want to risk water crossings and such around Stonyford.

Once we got to Upper Lake, we stopped to stretch our legs and consult the GPS. We fueled up at "Woody's Upper Lake Tire" and probably would have gotten a discount if Steph had been by herself. The proprietor was very impressed by her...

We grabbed 301/Elk Mountain Road/M1 and basically came into camp the opposite direction from Stiffler and Drew. It got goaty, then turned to pea gravel. It was fun, but in the twilight it was a little tricky.

All the bikes were parked on pavement by decree of the master of the forest. It was also decreed that Steph's bike be first in line.

There was a pretty good variety of bikes. Everything from plated dirt bikes to a BMW GS. And this Husaberg!

Saturday morning a big group of us took off up M1 and had a pretty fun all-dirt route to Covelo. The first section was pretty rough on the bigger bikes, as Drew will demonstrate at some point.

Lake Pillsbury from the lookout on Hull.

Lunch stop in Covelo (note, it's pronounced KO-va-low, not ko-VAY-low) [IMG]
It took four minutes for two burgers, chicken strips, and fries, but 18 for the burger that had bacon...

Saturday night around the campfire. Many stories were told. Some of them were even true.

Sunday morning, the site that we didn't want to see. The Sun rising over the lake and shining directly into our tent.

We rolled out at about 11, I missed the turn for Elk Mountain, and we came back Eel River to 20, not nearly as exciting as planned. We DID get to see a Dodge Ram getting winched up from the side of the road. The rest of the route home was 20-Knoxville-Berryessa-etc. Got home a couple minutes before 5:00 PM. Can't wait to do it again next year!

Oh, and because it came up in conversation...

Here are some pics I took over the weekend. I would like to extend a BIG Thank You to everyone who organized this rally and who made it so enjoyable for everyone. Especially the chefs!! Thanks for being so welcoming to us Sacramento folks too! The food, beer, riding, and company were outstanding in every way!!

Loaded up and ready to go

Drew and I took the M10 from Stonyford out to Elk Mtn Road on Friday and got to camp about 2pmish. Great ride that is. Perfect for the big bikes. Rice Fork water crossing was disappointingly small. Brandon showed up at the same time with his 450exc and xr100 in tow. Everyone else came in later that evening.

Satuirday morning we decided to ride up Hull Mtn and up to Covelo for lunch and back. Brandon took Steph around the single track trails and then hooked up with some other guys for the gnarly shit.

At the hang glider launch going up Hull Mtn. We were waiting for Drew who decided his windscreen sucked and head butted it.

Carl, "is this a good enough pose ya bastard?"

The view. We camped on the western edge of the lake. This is facing southwest.

The road down from the top. Way steeper than it looks.

We headed along the ridge, M1, up to Covelo. Awesome section of dirt. Fast. My GPS said I hit 71 at one point.

I rode up ahead to take pics of Drew and Carl and Rich when he wasn't in front of me.
