Dean have you considered Usal campground, no amenities as I recall but gorgeous area, riding ???? been there once and it was fun; no middle creek type area good run to Shelter cove etc.

I've camped there twice in the last few months. Only problem is one of the two main roads is still closed. So it would be a 30-45min ride on shitty washboard off of hwy20 to get down to the lake. via walker ridge road.

The area around Stampede Reservoir could be a good alternative. Plenty of areas for free camping with a group.

The problem with Prosser is that it's pretty far from the majority of the riding. Prosser only has one singletrack loop and it's not too long.

The Usal Beach area would be a great base for some great rides, but there is not much dirt riding up that way. There is also AW Way campgrounds close to there for a base, I lived up there for almost 5 years and there is GREAT riding up there but not much dirt.

Usal Beach has gotten pretty rowdy. Especially on weekends.

I was at Usal a couple Fridays ago and the place was absolutely packed. I have never seen so many people there in my life. At about 2 am Saturday morning some dumbass decided to light off about 10 mortars. We were up and out of there early that morning. I guess the next night someone lit the place on fire and everyone there had to shelter in place. If this type of stuff keeps happening the place WILL get shut down. I think the road in is still currently closed.

It's always been like that at Usal Beach in my recollection. The camping spots in the trees off the beach always look trashed.

Anybody been over Mendocino pass recently on FH7 from Covelo to Alder Creek?, or down M1 from FH7 to Lake Pillsbury?
Will be riding in the Mendocino County this week and was curious how bad the dust/silt might be. Wonder if those roads have had much fire/logging traffic.
    Thanks!
