:lol3 Those stuff always makes for funny sotries!

I am with you, as cities go, most are just rubbish, but some are actually quite cool. BA is one of the cool ones and we enjoyed it tremendously especially that we had friends there :D

Those were bloody good days! :photog

Way too much beer, and what still makes me laugh to this day is when the skinny farmer walked past, Leo asked in that dry voice of him, "Nou wie is jy ou biltong?":lol3

    Beautiful Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, also known as the “Paris of South America”, the city combines faded colonial architecture with Latin passion. Sexy and alive, this incredible city gets under your skin.
There's a rich combination of cultural heritage, modern creative energy, electric nightlife, unique traditions, a vibrant arts scene, extensive parks, and friendly people makes it one of the coolest capitals we have visited. The place is easy going, not that expensive and you don't have to pull out 100us just to go for a nice meal or evening at a bar.
I know, most of us will avoid cities like the plague, but there's some that have to be visited when in the country.

Old authentic bars, small restaurants and coffee shops are in abundance, the one with more character and vibe than the next. We worked our way from one to the next eventually end up back at the hostel late the evenings with heavy heads :D

The owners and people at the bars close to our hostel became friends with us as if we knew them for a lifetime. The Argentines are such kind folk which we can say after near 6 months in Argentina we felt all the way riding in the country.

If I was owning a bar and a sausage shop I would also always smile :photog

Bloody hell, and they are some of the best tasting sausages in South America!

It is super easy to pick up weight in BA. The food is incredibly tasty with a massive variety and well priced.

The city has so much to see we eventually stayed for nearly two weeks in the inner city. Groovy authentic bars had to be supported :photog

I felt it a little bit like Lisbon, but nicer in a way I can't explain. More laid back in any case.

Agreed, it is very much like Lisbon, but much more relaxed, colourful, more choices of bars, restaurants, and such groovy places. And not nearly as 1st world feeling. There's tourist but not the insane Eu crowd.

The motorcycle content is great and all, but sometimes, we need a little gratuitous meat and beer.

The bikes is the only thing saving us from ourselves, we can't carry anything more than what we have on the bikes. Otherwise we would've also bought loads of cool shit in BA :thumb

That is one lesson we have learned the hard expensive way. Never, ever DHL or send anything home or try and get stuff when in other countries!

You will pay per square centimetre of scrotum skin! Even when sending from a 1st world country to a 3rd country, the problem is not sending the stuff. It is getting the stuff out of customs and accompanying excess charges getting added and sucked from thin air. We got send a package from South Africa and DHL heard we were stuck in Bolivia and they picked up the tab for us.

All cool and well you would say..

Except, it took 3 days to get to Bolivia, it then took 3 weeks of begging, being nice, calling in contacts, and in the end, the last resort was fighting, threatening to burn their offices and shooting their employees and stationed customs officials to get our package out. In the end, it cost a small fortune and half the stuff was "discarded" because it did not comply with their standards.
Never, not once when we HAD to ship stuff did we came out of it unscathed or was it just easy. :)

Ah Hah! There it is! You made a threat when you should have made a bribe! I have only used DHL once when in MX, shipping to Colorado. No rush and it worked fine. Of course, that was years ago.

And shipping from Mexico to Colorado is the same as shipping from say, South Africa to Bolivia...
I think you're comparing apples with lemons there.

I recently mailed 6 packages of stuff home but that was only Nova Scotia to Newfoundland so no biggie. :D
