I know it a little late notice but I will be leaving this Saturday the 28th of September from Atlanta and heading to do the mid Atlantic bdr then I will make a back country route thru New York and in and around new Hampshire and Vermont to enjoy the peak colors , ride up mount Washington , then head to Maine and visit the coastline and maybe Acadia national park before heading back on the north east extension of the tat or some other route I can find to get me back to Georgia. Anyone along the way is quite welcome to join along for some riding . Hope to meet up with some fellow adv riders.

Cool. Assuming you update the report so I know when you get near NY I'll ride with you a bit.

    I'm near New Paltz NY.

Did a similar trip this Summer from Atlanta via MABDR to VT and Mt Washington but had to haul back from there. What a great trip during Fall Foliage. You will love it!

No closed bridges, just on closed track on the BDR and the posted detour had a gate, but I was able to ride around that one.

Yes. I could probably cook up a file . Head South on Rt 17 ( renamed interstate 86) to Liberty NY and get off and take route 52 East to a left on 209 North and then right on 44/55 east past Minnnewaska State Park and left on 299 East to New Paltz.

From there continue across the Mid Hudson Bridge Into Poughkeepsie ( Still 44/55)

44/55 forks a few miles later, head left on 44 to Route 22N all the way practically to Bennington VT.

Better yet - Take Route 17 ( 86 ) to East Branch and then take 30 North - awesome road. And then 23 East across the Hudson to 22 North to VT.

These guys are on FB. Check them out - lots of maps and gpx files.

I'd ride either of these with you.

I left Atlanta this morning 2 hours later then planned , and while in Tennessee following gps Kevin route to get me to Damascus my gosh was acting funny and I ended up going the wrong way and also found out Damascus was further then I thought . I was 48 miles from the start of the mid Atlantic bdr and it was getting dark and it had rained earlier and possibly more to come so I pulled into a small town Erwin , Tennessee and grabbed a room at the super 8. I did get to do deals gap and cherhollow skyway . Eastern Tennessee and Western north Carolina have some of the best Twisties and awesome views. Because I was running behind I did not get many pics IMG_20190928_101944191_HDR.jpg IMG_20190928_101944191_HDR.jpg IMG_20190928_143835521.jpg IMG_20190928_142407747.jpg

Sorry , I have been riding. Enjoyed Virginia and sections 1 , 2 and 3. Has been really hot and they too have been experiencing a drought so after stopping at 2 waterfalls and seeing them dried up with no water I decided not to stop for those anymore. Only had one water crossing and that was only about 5 feet wide and 4 " deep all the other Creek beds were dried up. Hit some rain yesterday but didn't last long. First night I stayed at a free campsite , last night I got to moorefield late and only had one option which was an expensive room at the South Branch inn. I have Verizon wireless and was surprised For the past day and a half I have had no service. Using the motel wifi right now. Gonna get my free breakfast ( well I really payed for it ) now and head out on section 4 . Finished out section 4 and about 70% of 5 today . I really didn't enjoy these sections for they were mostly paved 25 and 30 mph speed limits thru multiple communities and there was maybe 5% in the woods on dirt. And was very long stretches on highway. The traffic in a few of the town's was aweful . The highlight of the day was stopping at the creamery and having an ice cream , it was really good and I walked over to see the daily feeding of the new born calves and younger calves. You can hold the milk bottle and feed them. Several kids were having a good time doing that. Again it got late and was getting dark so I rode off the trail up the road about 3.5miles and grabbed a crappy motel room. Will finish out 5 in the morning and then find a Walmart or something to get some supplies. Keep riding north! It's going to be a miserable 97 degrees in central Virginia today and yes, it's very, very dry around here. A cold front is coming through Friday and the temps are due to drop 25 degrees and rain is on the way at the beginning of the week.

Keep the pictures coming, they keep me sane while trapped in my office! :thumb
