There's quite a group of middle TN adv riders. We just had our fall land between the lakes weekend get together. Look for adv@lbl ride threads to get more info there. There's also a ride to eat thread (diners and dives or something) where you can chime in and meet some people. Another big event each year is the Ribfest rally hosted by the BMW club of Nashville. There's also a group called Franklin Moto who arranges community rides, but they seem to be more interested in vintage bikes and cafe mods.

Happy 2018 -- 60ºF and sun! Finally thawed out enough to go for a ride. Didn't get to visit Miss Minnie @mrbreeze, but still had a good time winding around Percy Priest for a couple of hours. Hope a lot of you got out today, too.

Good news dormant thread watchers! I found a road near Hartsville that allows you to practice hill-climb and slow-speed turns at the same time!
:wings (yes, it *may* be a driveway, but still interesting non-the-less...)

Not at 8:15 this morning ;)
I made it to the top and realized it was a driveway and turned around. Six turns, Lombard has seven, but it much further away!!

Fellow newish Nashvillian who also just now saw this thread, I am totally down for some powerline survey, gravel trails, just general non-pavement activities. Buteo had mentioned that he's up for off road excursions in a message to me, so I'd like to get something going at somepoint.

Those KLR riders are just dirty :hmmmmm

I'd like to have a KLR, if they weren't so tall, and had more than one cylinder, and shaft drive, and weren't KLR's.

Unintentionally rode this route today. Liked it enough to share and archive. Mostly rough pavement with some distance of gravel. Would I ride a sport bike through here? Probably not; but, I've been known to get down a road, have it turn to gravel, and keep going because I don't like to back-track. Ideally, something with more than five inches of suspension travel.

One picture taken just south of highway 297.

I had an impromptu day off, so I filled up the NC700x and went for a ride.

Never been to Center Hill Dam before, so starting on Hwy109, headed south to curve my way to Watertown.
Said "Hi" to Maude in Liberty.

Then headed East past Dowelltown. Not many twists until I turned off Hwy70 onto Hwy96 going North. Fun sweepy, twists til the dam.
Forgot to take a picture, then headed down the tailwater on SR141. Not 2miles in, I saw this...

I had to stop. The river, the trees, the fisherman silhouetted against the last of the morning mist. Wow. Just wow.
On I went feeling good about life until...

    Yikes!!
    Then I went home.
    The end.

I have not been down 141 below the dam since it was washed out/obliterated a few years ago. I did RV camp there a little while back but it was still being rebuilt. You have now inspired me to go do an extended " honey, i'm going to get milk n bread " run. Excellent route tho. :thumb

Yes, the road goes through, but it is very rough right along the river. Go, but with caution...wait, this is ADVrider, right? Never mind, enjoy the “extended grocery run”!

Feel free to jump in on the Middle TN Tag Riders game. It gives you an excuse to ride, if no one else is riding.
