Yeah, I know it's taken forever.
Sure, some people will feel left out or pissed off.
Of course we can't please everybody.
But the First Annual ADVrider Midwestern Get-Together * is actually coming together. Almost.
How about the first week of June in and around Hermann, Missouri?
How does that strike your fancy, boyz 'n' girlz?
Romping out in the boonies. Close enough to St. Louis to drop by and terrorize a few neighborhoods if the spirit moves us. Daniel Boone Memorial State Forest nearby. The state that gave (and still gives us) cold Budweiser. The heart Of A-MUR-ica, only 494 miles from my door. And maybe even closer to yours.
Final date to be set, but we're aiming for Mizzura the first week in June. And we'd like you to join us.

............ A long weekend (Leave Thurs. afternoon) would work in my particular case.

I just threw Hermann out as a suggestion. I used to ride 94 a lot in college. Other suggestions are welcome. There are some better roads in south MO, but I'm not familiar with any of the towns.

Well, it doesn't have to be Hermann, per se, but it'll be somewhere in that area. I did notice there aren't exactly a ton of motels in the area for those of us who don't camp ... but that can be worked around.
As for the weekday vs. weekend thing, I'll be glad to post a poll on it. It frankly makes no difference to me whatsoever. I'll be there regardless.

I emailed a guy I know who has done a lot of touring in south MO and knows the area pretty well. Here is what he replied.
Names removed to protect the innocent.

    Hmmmmm....
I don't ride dirt much, so I'm not too familiar with the dirt roads. But
our *** club has a ride each year from Huzzah Valley campground on Hwy 8
just East of Steelville. We all camp or stay at a couple of cabins there
on the campground (Huzzah Valley is primarily a canoe float outfitter), so
I don't know what motels are available in Steelville. I would imagine they
    have several, tho.
*** & I have stayed at motels in Salem a couple of times, too. There are
several motels there, and the ones we have stayed at were decent.
Farther East is Pilot Knob, and it has some decent motels, but I don't know
about campgrounds. I'm sure there are some there. Pilot Knob has Taum
Sauk and Ft Davidson and Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut Ins and stuff
close, and a couple of decent restaurants. The Missouri Visitor Bureau
would probably have a listing of motels and campgrounds in different areas.
I wouldn't go further North-East than Pilot Knob, the roads at Park Hills
    suck, too many people.
Of course from these areas South are all good roads, but I don't know about
    accommodations.

In my opinion, some of the best riding is in these areas, the roads are
secondary and don't usually have the traffic that highways 60,160, 67, or
    63 usually have further South.

Yeah, I'd be interested in coming down and riding with you guys for at
least a day, depends on what's going on that weekend.
Let me know what you decide or if I can be of more help.

There are SO many things wrong with that, I can't even think of where to begin.

Oh wait, IF I get my Aeroflow, Bill Mayer saddle, Ricky Kuhn handlebars, and Valentine radar detector, as well as permission from Mrs. K to vanish for a week, then you can count me in!:rofl

I do have rain gear though:evil

Geez, what is this? Some type of peer pressure?

I'll tell you what. I am officially keeping the first of June open on the outside chance that everything comes together. But only if Fast goes with me...:):

Incidentally, I did not intend to hijack this thread. Like always, I seem to drag the group down into a meandering, morass of confusion.:evil

Just saw this thread. We had an informal HSTA ride from Omaha-Des Moines to Hermann in July. We ended up having to stay up at I-70 and 19 (forgot the town). Hermann has mostly small bed & breakfast type places. Good riding south of there. Hwy 100 which is southeast is a great road though.
So can I ride my ST1100 to this? :evil

Isn't there only a Shell station at the intersection of 19 and I-70? There's a ton of stuff a little south in Cuba, at the intersection of 19 and I-44.
