Hermann is mainly Bed and Breakfasts, but I have stayed at this motel.. 24 units, walking distance to downtown, Missouri River, beer joints, a couple of wineries. Was clean and reasonably priced, and generally not overly busy except during special community events. Nearby park with camping available for the hardcore adventurers.

Actually, maybe we should go somewhere else. Our Hermann ride was the ride from HELL (nothing to do with Hermann).
I think we had about 10 people along.
A gal ran her new Triumph Trophy into a ditch (fairly new rider on a new bike), minimal damage, rider unhurt.
TL1000S got a tank full of diesel fuel. Lost over an hour trying to drain it out.
Guy on an RC51 crashed on the exact same corner on CO Hwy K near Novinger, MO where I totaled my mint '89 Honda GB500 in '97. RC was rideable, rider unhurt. Then the bike fell over at a gas station and did more damage than the wreck!
After all of that we figured "what else can happen?". 3 of us wicked it up a bit on some big sweepers. Jim-TL1000S, John- Speed Triple, me-T'bird Sport. Passed an LEO doing 90-ish:arg We pulled over right away and he let us go!
We've been doing this ride since '97, except we used to go to the town of California, MO west of Jeff City on Hwy 50. You know, "Where are you riding to?" "California" hahaha:rolleyes

See, if we book this place up, mebbe we can get a discount. :evil
Anyway, it sounds like just what I'm looking for: out of the way, cheap, friendly and near beer joints. Who could ask for more? :dunno

    Right on both counts, Moggie.
Now, we've gotta set a final date.
Weekdays or weekend? There are those who favor both for different reasons, both of which I understand.
Me, I don't give a shit. I'll be there, regardless. :thumb

Who's good at negotiating prices? We could make a list of people and put down deposits.

    Are you? :dunno
Hell, I paid $45,990 for my GS with 19.175% interest for 10 years. Does that make me a good negotiatior?

If I'm still in Atlanta then, I vote for a late weekday.

I agree with waxy on this one. We could try for a Thur./Fri./Sat. thing, figuring Fri. being the real deal, with the weekday crowd heading out afterwards, and the weekenders just getting there. I see both sides of it. I could make it a three day weekend trip, or it could be the center of a two weekend plus the week between trip. Eitherway, But I much prefer camping, so I'll be snooping around for the nearest campground.

How about Wisconsin? I understand there are some beautiful roads up there. And it's the Midwest.

Fish, the roads are better in the Ozarks. The winters in WI tear them up up there, lots of shit (literally!) on the roads too. America's Dairyland and all. We have an HSTA rally in Spring Green, WI every year. It's nice, but I'd rather be in MO/AR any day!

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice state, worth a visit. If you want smooth twisty pavement the Ozarks are better though.
