How are the std KTM mirrors threaded? Is the left one having a 10x1,25 counterclockwise thread? I have a spacer installed on my LHS mirror. I cannot find it in the spare parts manual? Does anybody know?

Don't remember the size, but both mirror mount threads are clockwise.

On mine it's the same size and same thread on both side
    Don't remember for sure if it's M8 or M10 (M10 I guess)

Hi George, I suspect that the reason you called for a counterclockwise thread is because you can't properly align the mirror to initiate penetration (that sounded naughty). Exhale and retry! :lurk

I checked a while ago and my mirror mount on the left hand side, which is on the clutch mount, is clockwise thread. However I have an adaptor installed on my LHS which I believe is anticlockwise female and clockwise male. Can't dismantle the mirror to check. That is why I ask. A friend got a pair of OEM mirrors and the one is threaded counterclockwise (I guess it is the LHS).

The threads should be the same I believe.
The base too. It's the spacer in between defining cw or CCW.
IIRC, they should come loose when in proper position and hitting something. So, left is cw and left is CCW I think...

    mobile posted, excuse typos

The OEM mirrors have same # part number, so they should be both clockwise threaded. The bar mounts are also clockwise as I checked. I believe at some point ccws mirrors where installed at some point, in combination with mirror risers. The strange thing is I cannot find these spacers in OEM spare parts manual.

The mirror stalks themselves are CCW on both sides. The adapter part is CW both sides.

The adapter isn't available separately as you found

You mean the mirror stalks are CounterClockWise on both sides? The left mirror mount on the clutch is ClockWise for sure.

Mirrors are identical, left and right side.

Here are my Adventure mirrors. Like I said the mirror stalk itself is CCW and the adapter is CW.

    Reviving this thread...

Apparently 2016 KTM forward use reverse threaded right hand mirror. I discovered this when trying to convert my new 2019 KTM 790R to my Double Take mirrors. I ordered the Yamaha adapters for right side (reverse thread) and left side (so the mirrors are the same height.)

Me too. What a complete PITA KTM!

The new 790R is samely 'disabled'.... FFS. Stoopid. Why, why, why?... Workshop filled with the sounds of teeth nashing, babies wailing... Bah!

    Teutonic humour perhaps?

I cracked a right hand mirror. My KTM dealer did not have the 790 adventure ones in stock so sold me some nice ones off another model. That’s where it got messy.

    The standard mirrors are

Right hand mirror has a right hand CW thread, into an adaptor that has a left hand CCW thread that goes into the brake housing

The left hand mirror has a left hand CCW thread that goes into a an adaptor that has a right hand CW thread that goes into the clutch housing.

The new mirrors are both right hand CW thread.

So I had to buy some Yamaha adaptors to be able to get it all to work. What a total PIA

    Good luck guys.

This is only an issue on the new 790's. They have the CW, CCW mounts on the clutch/brake.

All the other twins still have the CW threads on the clutch/brake, and the mirrors have the adapters.

The adapter is a great idea. It's saved my mirrors many times. If you hit a mirror forward or backward, there is always a thread that will un-screw.

I am trying to install a extension on my 1200 mirrors. It’s giving me fits. Do they locktite these?

tightened at base the mirror is a half a turn from facing the right direction(towards) reAr.

    Any hints?
